We are awaiting President Trump in Macon, GA for what will be his third event of the day. State Rep. Vernon Jones- a noted Trump supporter who is black and a Democrat proclaimed that “President Trump has created more jobs for African-Americans going back to probably slavery.”
Sen. David Perdue in a tough re-election fight just told the crowd that President Donald Trump's election was "providential" and suggested God had a hand in electing Trump as President.
Perdue then warned the crowd of a potential liberal take over of government with "Bernie and Elizabeth and Kah-mah-la or Kah-ma-la or Kamamboamamla or however you say it." (Perdue has served with Kamala Harris in the Senate for 3 years)
Here is the video of Senator David Perdue mangling the pronunciation of Kamala Harris’s name.
And now- Perdue's opponent Democratic Jon Ossoff has already launched a fundraising appeal based on The Senator's comments tonight:
President Trump has arrived and kicked off his speech by declaring @JoeBiden the “worst presidential candidate in history”. Which is a statement worth revisiting should Biden win the election.
NEW: The Perdue Campaign is explaining the Senator's mispronunciation of Senator Harris's name.

"Senator Perdue simply mispronounced Senator Harris' name, and he didn't mean anything by it."
FULL STATEMENT:
President Trump is now complaining about the media pen being too close to the stage. (It is put there by his campaign and is designed to be in that spot to capture his speech where it looks best). He started a "move them back" chant and suggested they make a t-shirt that says it.
I should also point out that the Trump press advance staff is professional and works hard to meet our needs.
Trump again calls Biden the worst candidate of all time. He asks the crowd, “What if I lose to him? What will I do? I guess I’ll have to leave the country.”
President Trump just touted GOP Congressional Candidate Majorie Taylor Green, who has been a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory.
Trump told the crowd: “I never want to get on her bad side.”
Trump of course refused to disavow the Q theory in his NBC town hall on Thursday.
Trump also noted that Green is “way, way ahead”.. which is true because she is running unopposed in the general election.
I wondered what kind of energy and stamina we would get from President Trump tonight.... but here he is in his third rally of the night, going past the 90 minute mark. He gave this crowd everything they came for.

Scenes from today’s Trump rally in Greenville, NC:
*A sign asking people to wear masks (few are)
*A t-shirt touting “herd immunity”
*A t-shirt calling for the US to “invade Greenland”.
Not pictured- organizers asking rally goers to cover up shirts that say “F**ck your feelings.”
North Carolina is as important as any state on the map for President Trump. He won here by 4pts in 2016. A NYTimes/ Siena poll this morning shows him trailing by 4pts.
President Trump just called former North Carolina Congressman Mark Meadows on stage to cheers. Touting Meadows.. Trump said “I just test positive and Mark didn’t care he jumped on that helicopter. Why? He’s from North Carolina!”

NEW- In ongoing call with Governors- President Trump is scolding their response to the crisis.
Trump blamed protests on "radical left" and then said:

“The only time it's successful is when you’re weak and most of you are weak.”
MORE- on call Illinois @GovPritzker called Trump out for his rhetoric:
“I have been extraordinarily concerned with the rhetoric coming out of the WH is making it worse. People are feeling real pain out there. We have to have national leadership in calling for calm."
Trump responded to Pritzker:
"I don’t like your rhetoric either."

THREAD.. apologies in advance.. I've covered the @BernieSanders since December of '18. Indulge me as I take a look back at the roller coaster ride of a campaign that ended today.
First off- a HUGE thanks to @AnnieGrayerCNN & @GregJKrieg my teammates that made the job easy.
My first story on the Sanders beat was before he announced his candidacy. A tense meeting in mid- January with former staffers to reconcile sexual harassment accusations from the 2016 campaign.
Sanders officially announced about a month later.. and made his presence known with a huge fundraising haul in the first 24 hours.
Funny aside- we national reporters had a 7am embargo and all got scooped on the official announcement by VT Public Radio.

In an interview w/ @AndersonCooper, @BernieSanders said that if Governors refuse to issue stay at home orders in their states that the Federal Government should issue a nationwide stay at home order.
Sanders has also listed a long set of priorities for the next stimulus bill. Among his proposals- the federal government guarantees a paycheck for every American for at least the next six months.
Here are more of @BernieSanders priorities for the next stimulus package:
Includes a $2k a mo “emergency payment” for every worker in America until the crisis passes.

RIGHT NOW: ⁦@BernieSanders⁩ giving remarks on the economic and health crisis due to Coronavirus.
Sanders warns that in the worse case scenario more people could lose their lives because of Coronavirus than died in World War II.
Sanders talks about being concerned about people becoming isolated because of quarantines related to the illness. He is pleading with the American public to be mindful that everyone is “in this together” and not allow that isolation to forgot the community responsibility.

Good Morning from Windsor, Ontario. Today ⁦@BernieSanders⁩ will lead a group of diabetes patients over the border into Canada to purchase insulin at a cheaper price at this pharmacy. It’s all part of his presidential campaign pitch for Medicare For All.
This morning on @CNNSotu, @jaketapper asked Sanders about a comment he made last night at a fundraiser comparing Pharmaceutical Execs to murderers. This is how Sanders responded:
