Good Morning from Windsor, Ontario. Today ⁦@BernieSanders⁩ will lead a group of diabetes patients over the border into Canada to purchase insulin at a cheaper price at this pharmacy. It’s all part of his presidential campaign pitch for Medicare For All.
This morning on @CNNSotu, @jaketapper asked Sanders about a comment he made last night at a fundraiser comparing Pharmaceutical Execs to murderers. This is how Sanders responded:
Bus w/ Sanders has arrived at the pharmacy In Windsor.
.@BernieSanders enters The Olde Walkerville Pharmacy in Windsor with American diabetes patients where they will buy insulin at a much cheaper price.
Inside the pharmacy- Sanders describes the cost of insulin as a matter of “life and death” for many American diabetics. He said that it makes no sense that in a less than 10 minute drive the cost of the drug drops 10x.
This patient told Sanders she is forced to ration her insulin doses because of the high cost. She said the spacing out of her meds has sent her to the emergency room more than 70 times.
Sanders stops her and says-
“This is what a dysfunctional health care system looks like!”
A little girl listens to @BernieSanders speak about drug prices while holding a sign that reads “Insulin saves MY life.”
