.@KSzczerski informed that on Monday #Poland and #USA will sign an intergovernmental agreement on the development of the nuclear energy and industry in Poland. What is it all about?
1. The deal states that within a year and a half Poland and the U.S. will jointly prepare a report that constitutes the basis for Warsaw to decide on the final selection of a partner for the Polish Nuclear Power Program (PPEJ)
2. During this time leading American companies in the civil nuclear power sector will carry out preparatory and design works. At the same time representatives of both governments together with US financial institutions are said to prepare financing options for the PPEJ program.
3. The intergovernmental deal will be signed by @SecBrouillette on the first day of @3seaseu, the #ThreeSeas Initiative virtual summit in Tallinn.
4. However is it a breakthrough? It's not the first deal signed by Poland and the U.S. regarding this issue. Nevertheless it is one step closer to materializing the nuclear power plant in Poland. Polish authorities aim to build the first reactor in 2033.
