*Car is a 1930-31 Ford Model A coupe, chopped & channeled, 36 Ford truck grille, early Chrysler Hemi, U-Fab 6x2 intake with Stromberg 97, whitewall recap cheater slicks, 57 Plymouth hubcaps. Next to 55 Olds 88 4 door sedan.
Administrative notes: glad to be back on the car ID beat after my unfortunate hacking incident. My avi and old tweets haven't been restored yet, but I'm hopeful they will be within a few days. Thank you for your patience.
And please adhere to the guidelines:
- use #DavesCarIDService tag
- I prioritize family pics and mysterious abandoned heaps
- be patient, it may take me a few weeks to get to your pic
- NO POLITICS and no 57 Chevys
Can't say what the gizmo is, but the car is a 1930-31 Ford Model A coupe, but not a Deluxe which would have rumble seat. Same model as in the hot rod pic above, before-hot rodding treatment.
Nope. Willys introduce a civilian Jeep pickup soon after the war, along with the Jeepster wagon. This one is a very early model, circa 1947; later ones would have a more ornate grille with chrome.
He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots
And a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
He had a hopped-up 'sicle that took off like a gun
That fool was the terror of Highway 101
Incidentally, the singing Cheers here feature Bert Convy, who would later go on to polyester suited Match Game 77 stardom. Orchestra conducted by Les Baxter, one of superstars of Space Age Tiki Martini Exotic music
But I digress. Back to the car IDs: these Jersey kindergarten grads will never walk alone, thanks to a 1956 Ford Parklane wagon.
Sailor Boy Gramps is leaning on a 1941 Cadillac; not 100% sure, but I believe the teddy bear-hugging bobby sox beehive hairhoppers are in front of a circa 1955 British made Ford Anglia. Some US Ford dealers sold their UK cousins in the postwar period.
Not a lot to go on here, but I'm venturing the car is a circa 1923 Dodge touring. Awesome pic, and the poor guy in front looks like he needs to pee like a race horse.
1. 1928-29 Ford Model A Deluxe coupe
2-3. 1962 Chevy II Nova convertible (first year for this model) 4. Tom's 1st car is a top-of-the-line 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix.
Another great pic, but a reminder to PLEASE remember the #DavesCarIDService hashtag in your request or otherwise I will likely never see it. The car here is one of my all time faves, a 1933 Ford Tudor sedan.
Safety First! Another 1917 photo, per the 1917 NY license plate (likely stamped in Sing Sing). Not enough here for a certain ID on the car, but it appears compatible with circa '16-'17 Buick touring.
rrrrrRRRoWWwwwrrr. Not all album photos need to be Jazz Age flappers. The truck here is a maddingly tough call, closest I can guess is a circa 1963 International Harvester, but tail light placement is off. I welcome a definitive call on this.
Dad-in-Law won't be in trouble with the boss, as I'm pretty sure this is a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible, and optioned with electric windows, lah-ti-dah. IIRC if you worked at Ford and didn't drive one, you had to park in the distant lot.
Auntie here is with a 1934 Ford Fordor sedan. Up the thread I ID'd a 1933 Ford; the only diff between 1933 & 34 from the side is the hood louvers. On 34 the louvers are straight, while on 33 they have a pleasant little curve which I like a bit better.
Hmmmm. Some clues to my hacking, via my notifications. The one on Sept 23 was me, the 2 on Sept 28 looks to be the culprit. Logged in from Android device in NYC, changed my handle to "barkbiteblog", and that's when the shitshow started.
BTW, my notifications (along with old tweets, avi & such) are still messed up, I am only seeing notifications from accounts I follow. Will try to rectify this as well.
