Debunking misinformation is well and good (I did it for over a decade). But making noise is worthwhile and necessary.

The liberal dream is were going to fact check right wing lies into oblivion or somehow bring back the fairness doctrine and I'm here to tell you neither thing is happening and probably wouldn't work anyway.

one of the reasons im so "rude" and blunt about this stuff is that back when i first got into politics/media/history i had this very wrong idea that we knew better than to keep repeating the same goddamn mistakes over and over.

i end up just pounding people over this now cause they WON'T LEARN.

the politeness has been killing us. there's a real world consequence to every time turning the page on these monsters. nixon's henchmen reappear with reagan, then those guys build bush, and they pop up w trump.

and they get away with it cause WE - progressives, democrats - at all levels let them do it. we're so paralyzed with fear over the current evil we give an unwarranted pass to the last one. STOP IT. fight it. don't let it go. maybe, finally, learn from always getting burnt.

Happy to see many more progressives on the “we’re not taking shit from the mainstream media” train. I’ve been waiting for you for a LONG time.

And no, begging them to do better won’t work. Working with them won’t work. Firm and forceful public shaming is the only path.

Nothing radicalized me on the mainstream press more than covering them for 13 years and repeatedly watching absolute bullshit from the fevered swamps of the right repeatedly get amplified at the commanding heights of the mainstream press. They are the worst. The worst.

it would be dumb to have a call with supporters that you also know is going to be reported in the press and say stuff like "yeah, we got this, its in the bag, he's toast." we won't hear the 100% truth about what they knew until after the election.
