It’s my honor to moderate the Thomas L. Petty, MD Master FCCP Memorial Lecture to be given by Mary Hart, RRT. This award is given to a @accpchest FCCP known for their exceptional mentoring and clinical instruction skills. Excited for this lecture! #CHEST2020
Hart: Will focus on some real world patient-centered studies that can impact patient outcomes. #CHEST2020
Hart: Use of Respiratory Therapists in Primary Care Offices improved outcomes! A study from 2000! #CHEST2020
Hart: Having RRTs in PCP offices was cost neutral (due to increased billing) and improved outcomes #CHEST2020
Hart: Real world #rehab study! Examined water-based pulmonary rehab for COPD and assessed PFT's in different depths of water! Found mid-chest height water was ideal level of submersion. #CHEST2020
Hart: Fun and creative rehab methods are key toward improving outcomes in the real world! #CHEST2020
Hart: Music Therapy can help with Pulmonary Rehab! Playing Harmonica improves outcomes for COPD (and may have had airway clearance effect!) mdedge.com/chestphysician…#CHEST2020
Hart: Great feedback from participants. Helps socialization, helps quality of life. #CHEST2020
Hart: There are #asthma camps for kids? Why not a COPD camp for adults! Funded by a grant from @CHESTFoundation to have fun and provide support and patient information for COPD. #CHEST2020
