I turned 70 a few years back, so I’ve had some time to savor the moment. I’ll share a few thoughts:

Pro: You made it to the fabled “3 score and 10”…beats the alternative. You probably have some friends that didn’t make it. You appreciate that fact every day.

Pro & Con: You realize that your life’s “runway” is short and getting shorter so you think about things differently. You can’t put things off like you used to…”if not now, when”
Pro & Con: You appreciate how much good health and physical strength matters.

If you are smart you exercise a lot to preserve what you have.
Pro: Your kids will (hopefully) be more solicitous. Mine threw me a surprise party when I turned 70; that was really something.
Pro: You’re not saving for retirement anymore
Con:

Con: You are forced to take IRA withdrawals as opposed to doing it when you choose. Finances in general are more constrained
Pro: No one questions that you are a senior citizen entitled to discounts - you look the part.
Pro: Grandchildren

Pro: You appreciate how important friends are and you can devote real time to maintaining relationships
Pro: You have a wealth of accumulated wisdom that you wouldn’t trade for anything
Con: Your body doesn’t always do what your wisdom wants it to do…and frequently complains.

Pro: You likely no longer have a job that controls your life. Your career is a memory not a driving force. You own your personal schedule and can say no to things you don’t want to do.
For me the Pros far out weigh the Cons.

तीन पहर तो बीत गये,
बस एक पहर ही बाकी है।
जीवन हाथों से फिसल गया,
बस खाली मुट्ठी बाकी है।
सब कुछ पाया इस जीवन में,
फिर भी इच्छाएं बाकी हैं।
दुनिया से हमने क्या पाया,
यह लेखा जोखा बहुत हुआ,
इस जग ने हमसे क्या पाया,
बस यह गणनाएं बाकी हैं।
तीन पहर तो बीत गये,

इस भाग दौड़ की दुनिया में,
हमको एक पल का होश नहीं,
वैसे तो जीवन सुखमय है,
पर फिर भी क्यों संतोष नहीं,
क्या यूँ ही जीवन बीतेगा?
क्या यूँ ही सांसे बंद होंगी?
औरों की पीड़ा देख समझ,
कब अपनी आँखे नम होंगी?

स्त्री बोली :- बेटा मैं तुम्हें जानती नहीं. अपना परिचय दो।
मैं अवश्य पानी पिला दूंगी।
कालीदास ने कहा :- मैं पथिक हूँ, कृपया पानी पिला दें।
स्त्री बोली :- तुम पथिक कैसे हो सकते हो, पथिक तो केवल दो ही हैं सूर्य व चन्द्रमा,

जो कभी रुकते नहीं हमेशा चलते रहते। तुम इनमें से कौन हो सत्य बताओ।
कालिदास ने कहा :- मैं मेहमान हूँ, कृपया पानी पिला दें।
स्त्री बोली :- तुम मेहमान कैसे हो सकते हो ? संसार में दो ही मेहमान हैं।
पहला धन और दूसरा यौवन। इन्हें जाने में समय नहीं लगता। सत्य बताओ कौन हो तुम ?

He looks around for help and finally finds an old farmer.
This businessman goes to him asking for help to get his car out of the mud.

The Farmer gauges d situation, & agrees to help him and says, “let us take the help of Warwick.”

Warwick was an old bull around, but d helpless business man agrees.

उन चारों को होटल में बैठा देख, मनीष हड़बड़ा गया.
.
लगभग 25 सालों बाद वे फिर उसके सामने थे. शायद अब वो बहुत बड़े और संपन्न आदमी हो गये थे.

मनीष को अपने स्कूल के दोस्तों का आर्डर लेकर परोसते समय बड़ा अटपटा लग रहा था.

उनमे से दो मोबाईल फोन पर व्यस्त थे और दो लैपटाप पर. मनीष पढ़ाई पुरी नही कर पाया था. उन्होंने उसे पहचानने का प्रयास भी नही किया.

वे खाना खा कर बिल चुका कर चले गये.
मनीष को लगा उन चारों ने शायद उसे पहचाना नहीं या उसकी गरीबी देखकर जानबूझ कर कोशिश नहीं की.

उसने एक गहरी लंबी सांस ली और टेबल साफ करने लगा.

टिश्यु पेपर उठाकर कचरे मे डलने ही वाला था, शायद उन्होने उस पे कुछ जोड़-घटाया था.

अचानक उसकी नजर उस पर लिखे हुये शब्दों पर पड़ी. लिखा था - अबे साले तू हमे खाना खिला रहा था तो तुझे क्या लगा तुझे हम पहचानें नहीं?

Krishna:- Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free.

Krishna :- Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.

With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter.
