Stefanie Rysdahl Fuhr: The mandates for reading have trickled down to kindergarten; within a couple of weeks of kindergarten, students are being tested to see if they're deficient readers. Then it becomes teaching to the test, which is concerning.

Stefanie Rysdahl Fuhr: Children learn best through play. We have gotten rid of the respect for teachers, and we do not trust or honor their experience & expertise on education. The quality of the educator improves the quality of the learning.

Stefanie Rysdahl Fuhr: I refused those tests for my children, & I'm so glad I did. Once kids are labeled, especially as "deficient," it's very difficult to get those labels removed.
