Two tenants said they missed rent because 2 family members had recently died, and they asked to pay rent a bit back at a time. One had to call off work to go to magistrate. Complex is now charging them extra $375 be they were couple weeks late pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/pit…
Majority of the tenants owed less than $2000 in overall fees, some tenants were likely only behind on rent to the tune of a few hundred dollars. This shows the ease at which eviction complaints can still be filed as PA lifted its eviction moratorium. pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/pit…
But Alden South Hills is an exceptional case. 44 cases over two days. Typically a magistrate district will see about 7 cases a day across several properties. Truly a large scale eviction attempt as state’s rent assist program is still waiting on fixes. pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/pit…

From 2011-2017, Jared Kushner owned property. His company purged rent rolls, stop accepting section 8 and upgraded the complex. After he sold in 2017, new owners AION appear to be picking up steam, in 2018, they filed 239 evictions, one of most in county. pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/pit…
Annnnnd, the fixes meant help streamline the states rent assistance program have it a wall in the GOP controlled senate. Because of issues, only about $10 million of the $150 million allocated has been spent. These people in 44 units could use the help they likely won’t get now
