Good evening fellow Twitter captives — this is staff writer @SollenbergerRC, once again finding myself blackmailed into live-tweeting this next short, cacophonous chapter in our unfolding national emergency. Hold on to your butts
Trump says 2.2 million people would have died. First, that's if he did nothing. Second, after he learned that number in mid-March, he actually pushed to open up more quickly — by Easter. Here are the remarks where he acknowledges the 2.2 million figure whitehouse.gov/briefings-stat…
Look, Trump keeps talking about sending all of these ventilators all over the world — he almost overpaid for ventilators by ... hundreds of millions of dollars propublica.org/article/the-tr…
Trump just said he's immune — possible for life. Science says...
Bunker boy wants to be a bunker man — Trump said he would love to ride out the pandemic in a basement
Trump bravely doubling down on the claim that Gold Star families infected him with COVID. "They want to hug you. And they want to kiss you, because we really have done a good job." salon.com/2020/10/02/the…
Trump: Excuse me — I do take responsibility.
Also Trump:
"The mute button is a disaster — it just lets Trump lie without being interrupted or corrected." - @AmandaMarcotte
President Tan Mom used his own kid's diagnosis with the most contagious deadly disease on the planet right not to try to shame parents into sending their kids to school usatoday.com/story/news/202…
One upside to tonight's muted mic rule is we can expect to see a lot of this
A reminder that Barron Trump is about the size of an NBA small forward, so might not be reflective of the "incredible immune system of children"
Trump: gripes about plexiglass, says businesses are dying
People are dying my dude.
This feels not even worth pointing out but Trump, not Fauci, is the one who told us not to wear masks
Full disclosure: I first typed "Russian prawn," which would also pass fact-check.
Trump spent these last four years trying to make the country sick of stories about Russia and Ukraine, and the last couple of weeks have shown that he can't just turn it back on.
Trump just says the $750 in taxes he paid in 2016 and 2017 were not taxes after all — they were filing fees.
So he paid nothing to the country in taxes as a billionaire President of the United States.
Trump: "I don't make money in China. I don't make money in Russia."
"This Hunter Biden crap is so boring it's like listening to someone talk about a TV show you don't watch, except you've somehow watched every episode." - @eekshecried
FWIW, I think Kristen Welker is doing a legitimately good job as moderator. Good thing the Trump campaign spent the last week and a half trashing her and her family! salon.com/2020/10/22/sor…
Trump's mic got cut early and we're going to hear about it for the next forty years
Trump: We shouldn't raise the minimum wage.
Welker: But you said you'd consider it.
Trump: I would consider it. To an extent.
Very clear. Very clear.
Trump on 545 children still searching for their parents at the southern border: "They are very well taken care of." #Debates2020npr.org/2020/10/21/926…
Hey everyone he didn't say "good," he said "go ahead" — but he *did* say that hundreds of children who still can't find their parents because of his policies are "very well taken care of"
Biden: The character of this country is on the ballot.
Trump: YOU'RE AN IRAQI BILLIONAIRE
Trump: Proud boys, stand back and stand by!
Biden: proud boys poor boys whatever who gives a rip shut up
“Why didn’t you do anything while you were in office?” — sitting president in his 4th year who signs blank sheets of paper in official White House photos
Trump to Biden just now: "Why didn’t you do anything while you were in office?"
I really wish I felt more serious about all of this but I don't anymore and I think that's a pretty good sign
Look, while debates typically don't have much sway in elections, these might.
We're voting early more than any year: 47 million votes already cast.
I'd love to see the stat on how many votes are cast tomorrow. This reminded me to get it done.
These debates will probably make a difference. They've all been so abnormal and a jarring juxtaposition for Trump, who hasn't had to defend himself in a serious way & only now seems to realize he's done absolutely nothing for 4 years. Clearest takeaway: He's a cruel liar.
Thanks all you great people for following along. This has been @SollenbergerRC, filling out the last of my community service hours. Please vote. And get your friends to vote!

EXCLUSIVE: New court documents, previously unrevealed emails and secret internal documents reveal a Republican scheme to gerrymander America and undermine our democracy. salon.com/2018/02/06/how…
In June of 2009, Thomas Hofeller laid out for the first time before Republican state legislators the GOP strategy to reinvent the gerrymander, with a presentation called "Redistricting 2010: Preparing for Success."
The presentation explains why the GOP now dominates all levels of American politics in spite of a polarized and closely divided electorate that generally tends to favor Democrats.
