WHERE WAS GOD DURING THE LEKKI MASSACRE?

The gory #lekkimassacre kept me up that night and has still left me short of words for a while. We will NEVER forget. 💔

Some people have asked questions like; How could God allow such a thing to happen?

You prolly imagined God making the soldiers freeze involuntarily (like Lot’s wife turned pillar of salt). Or rain down fire (like in Sodom and Gomorrah). The Bible is replete with such stories, therefore such faith is not unfounded. So then Why didn’t such happen? #pstirensaid

1.“God is not SLACK...but is LONGSUFFERING..., not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9

Simply put, when God doesn’t judge wickedness instantly, don’t call God slack when He is being longsuffering #pstirensaid

His divine hesitancy to judge is always a chance for the wicked to repent. But for this, many of us would equally have been judged in the wickedness of our past. Thankfully, former terrorists like Saul and still become mighty men of God tomorrow.

Judgment for all is inevitable eventually. If not in this life, then in the next (Hebrews 9:27). “They” may seem to be getting away with it, but they will yet give account for their lives at the end. Delay is not denial.

A good number will be judged on earth also. This longsuffering isn’t always indefinite before some dangerous people are held accountable. Many will have the writing on the wall read: “Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting” Daniel 5:27.

There’s a “meter” that runs out after the “iniquity of the amorites gets full” Gen. 15:16 e.g Pharoahs of Egypt hardened their hearts, oppressed the Israelites for 400yrs until God also hardens his heart, and his pride led to his doom. Mark this: You’d see this play out for many.

2. God often intervenes by nudging us of the magnitude of the decisions about to be made ahead of time e.g God hinted Apostle Paul that he would be arrested if he went to Jerusalem (Acts 21:10-16). Paul however went there still because of the perceived eventual good #pstirensaid

This is what I saw in the HEROES of the #lekkimassacre, who won’t allow their voice be silenced despite the threats. The real SOLDIERS that night were unarmed men taking a BRAVE stand for their nation. God wasn’t silent. Those guys were simply brave and would never be forgotten.

3.How do you know God did nothing? Sometimes, God uses seemingly unfortunate events to birth his divine plan. e.g The epicenter of the joy of the Christian faith is founded on a seemingly unfortunate event- the death of Jesus. #pstirensaid

Not too long ago, people never imagined the phone-pressing generation standing up in the face of danger. What if what the oligarchs meant for evil in the #lekkimassacre God can turn around for good to bring out the much needed change this nation has coveted? Time would tell

4.God gave man free will so that he can truly fellowship with us. If love isn’t a voluntary choice, it is not love. Love comes with vulnerability. If man will be capable of love, he will be capable of hurt. What you saw at during the #lekkimassacre was free will being abused

Asking “Why did God allow it?” might be lack of understanding of free will. Men must be held accountable for their actions, not God. Even if God intervened several times in the Bible, what is still fundamentally true is that man is free and so evil persists. #pstirensaid

5. All men get to die one day, whether like a hero at #lekkimassacre or any other way. The GOODNEWS is death doesn’t have to be an end but a bridge to a better and endless life. God offers us better than safety n the life. He offers a more durable eternal life! #pstirensaid

My heart goes out to everyone who was hurt or lost their lives at the #lekkimassacre . The Church I Pastor was privileged to gift a tiny token towards their medicals. We hope to do more.
