@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates B4 I lost my leg I was going to PT once p/wk for my back. Every mo. Id have to have my Dr send in a PRE-AUTH so I cld continue. It wasnt that difficult to do. & u DONT 'have' 2go2 a substandard facility. I went to a well known sports medicine PT facility.

@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates What it takes is EFFORT on the Medicaid recipients part, tenacity (ie: making sure u kno the dates & stay in touch w/ ur Dr), & the DESIRE TO HEAL URSELF. #Medicaid isnt a "kick bk & everything will be done FOR u" form of Insurance. Even Private insurance req's effort

@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates In 2014 I needed new glasses. Bcos of my accident & subsequent serious problems Id not been able 2get2 my eye Dr. I calld 2 make an appt, they told me Medicaid doesnt pay 4 glasses anymore & wld ONLY pay 4 an adult exam IF there was an eye condition (glaucoma et al)

@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates I made the appt., got my glasses scrip, did some research, & got a voucher frm @lionsclubs to see a Dr & GET my glasses. I found out last yr that #Medicaid had CHANGED BK to what it was before: exam+glasses=COVERED. Last month, I got another new pair of glasses AT MY REG. EYE DR
@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates@lionsclubs#Medicaid is changing allllll the time. The ONLY way ull be kept up2date is if U put forth effort &stay in touch w/ur Dr(s) AND Medicaid casewrkr to find out abt changes, & to KEEP CALENDAR (re:therapy) so u can ask ur Dr for pre-auth in ADVANCE for 0 break in ur treatment(s).
@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates@lionsclubs Ive had priv insurance, and now have Medicaid. Ive experienced BOTH ends of the stick. And no matter if u have Private insurance or Medicaid or Medicare (like my 95 yr old Dad has), u MUST make a little effort. There ARE good standard facilities/Dr's who accept Medicaid.
@HannaIsle@AAPD@NDRNadvocates@lionsclubs I am sorry youve had a shitshit experience w/ Medicaid. Ifu want some help or advice, Id be willing to help u 🌹 NO insurance if perfect & every patient is different. & cattle-call facilities ARENT ur only option. If expanding Medicaid means more insured Americans, Im all for it.
