Nobody is happier for you to own a vehicle than the SA government.

License disc fees, driver's license renewals, fuel taxes, import duties, ad valerom tax, tyre levies, VAT, Road Accident Fund payments, eTolls, toll gate fees, CO2 taxes...
"Taxes account for 42% of the purchase price of new vehicles with prices between R200k & R900k"

- Toyota South Africa Motors
Who else is really excited for you to own a car?

Banks, dealership finance divisions & insurance providers.

The Wesbank mobility basket shows 80% of monthly spend are due to fuel and car payment instalments.

Frustratingly, insurance is also becoming much more expensive.
Vehicle theft & rampant crime encourages an entire industry of vehicle tracking providers ++ short term insurance firms

Unsafe public transport and terrible infrastructure also means the alternative to vehicle ownership is unattractive

Then there's misappropriation of taxes...
Escaping eTolls, fuel price increases & additional taxes is difficult since ultimately the cost is passed onto the end user.

The disposable income of someone taking two taxis to work every day shrinks even further & the debt trap is fuelled even more.

Nobody wins. Nobody.

Whether it's a blatant pyramid scheme, dysfunctional political leaders or a mindless church cult, our people are desperate to believe in something
What I learnt helping people identify & get out of pyramid schemes:

Desperation clouds judgement.

These are people like you & I who end up in terrible situations. It's a loan gone bad or sudden unemployment

Sometimes they have so much cash "invested" they're forced to believe
The hardest people to help get out of a scam are the "cult promoters"

These are people who joined a scam early, have actually made money & refuse any evidence put in front of them.

They frequent Facebook groups & are prepared to sacrifice their friends/ family to the scheme.

Khabib announces his retirement
To retire at the top is a real luxury.

You look at the likes of Anderson Silva, BJ Penn & Chuck Liddell... incredible fighters diluting their career records with later fights.
It's tragic a Silva vs. GSP fight never happened
