Kevin Drum wrote a stupid article (not linking to it because oh my glob is it bad) but this was particularly egregious:
He starts out reasonable and then careens right into a damn brick wall.

Yes, they are loathsome acts of desperation.

BUT THEY ARE STILL WRONG AND JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE JUMPING THROUGH THE HOOPS MADE DOESN'T MAKE IT OKAY.
Part of why 2016 was a clusterfuck was because people WERE having their right to vote stripped AND IT FUCKING WORKED TO DESTROY DEMOCRATIC CHANCES.
That DIRECTLY led to MILLIONS becoming ill in the US alone. It led DIRECTLY to millions more outside the US becoming ill as well because OUR leadership wasn't there like it had been for decades.
That DIRECTLY led to Puerto Rico having a destroyed infrastructure with zero effort to rebuild it properly. Thousands have died that would not have if we had Democratic leadership.
There are millions of examples of why the fact that Republican voter suppression is not merely loathsome but had massive detrimental affect on the United States and the world.
But yay, apparently it is all okay to have millions at risk of becoming homeless, their meds delayed, a national pandemic disaster, and a major US territory wrecked because Kevin Drum is happy voters are having to go above and beyond to get their fucking votes counted.
Oh and he talks about how the judiciary is split between Democratic and Republican appointed judges.
1. It should be heavily Democratic as we won in 2012.
2. The Republicans appointed are hotly opposed to any expansion of rights for anyone not white and male like...KEVIN DRUM.
One final thing: the reason we are yelling our heads off about the way the Republicans are going is to reverse the harm already done and *prevent new harm* from happening that is much much worse.

Like taking extreme precautions with a new deadly disease.
The goal is to not get to the even more death part of where the Republicans are headed.

I have done numbers porn on the early votes. I am a terrible person.

Who wants to see?
Caveats: I did not add the 10% voters to the opponent’s total. Mostly because I forgot to at the start so never bothered to update. I admit, I am somewhat lazy.
Further, I did not bother to check any state reg numbers or when it started.

Few people in the media talk about this by the way.

The Republicans for 4 Democratic presidential terms abused their investigatory power against the Democratic presidents for purely partisan gain. And the media yelled at the Dems anytime they pointed this out.
The media's nonstop treatment of Republican behavior as legitimate and Democratic behavior as not is really weird considering how often Republicans are caught breaking the law.
This President is insanely corrupt and his behavior is *spreading* but the US press is like "you shouldn't be investigating him Democratically controlled House!"

In December 1992, the Washington Post (the one that always gets better scoops than the NYTimes even if the NYTimes does a better job at laying out the facts) published a story about a powerful junior Senator who was touching women wrong.
This Senator was also known as a stanch ally to the women. He spearheaded major feminist priorities. He also voted against Clarence Thomas. Dianne Feinstein even supported him!
His name was Robert Packwood. A Republican from Oregon who resigned in disgrace after 19 women came forward with credible allegations of sexual harassment and the Senate Ethics Committee chaired by #MoscowMitch voted to expel him.

Let's talk about how a certain Senator's, who is grasping at relevance, fanboys react to a Black woman pointing out she has the receipts.

Because they put her in danger today.
Senator Sanders has long been known to have not simply rabid fans but violent ones.
From an attack on Representative Jim McDermott for the mere fact he supported Clinton over Sanders: q13fox-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/q13fox.com…
To the violence exhibited at the Nevada caucuses including the #chairgate but more the violent threats against NV Dem chairwoman: thehill-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/thehill.co…

*logs on to discuss the incredibly asinine appellate brief by Cheato's lawyers*

Oooh boy, this was bad. I mean it was so bad I had to wash my computer to clean the stank.
Let's get started! First off, the Constitution gives Congress super duper broad powers to do whatever the fuck they want as long as there is some kind of legislative purpose that could result from this.

Including checking if the President committed crimes.
Here's something fun. While a President can be *impeached for being convicted of a crime* it does not say that a dude who committed crimes that we all know he committed despite the statute of limitations having run out can't be Prez.

It started in 1964 with Barry Goldwater's massive loss to LBJ.
LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and still won in a landslide. But he knew he was giving an opening to the Republicans.

Who looked at 1966 results in reaction to the CRA and thought "hmm."
It broke up the Solid South. (Ye Olde Blue Wall that FDR had made a deal with the devil to keep.) We lost the Arkansas and Florida gubernatorial elections and 47 seats in the House.
