The virus IS the biggest story of 2020. Obviously no one wants it to be. But it's a once-in-a-century pandemic – it's affected everyone on the planet – so this is less about newsrooms setting the agenda and more about the virus and the public health community setting the agenda.
"Covid, Covid, Covid," Trump said Saturday, bemoaning TV news coverage. He sounded just like Alec Baldwin on SNL: "Coronavirus, so boring, right?" The real Trump wants this to seem like a fight about the media, but he's not fighting the media on this one, he's resisting reality.
He's trying to make up his own reality, which is really the central story of the Trump years. Another day, another distraction. But numerous polls and surveys show that reality is winning. /end
