This is seriously not true. I'll take a picture of my fucking passport right now.
Someone please explain this to me.
Yes I was born in Jerusalem. No I did not become naturalized, I'm a U.S. Citizen Born Abroad.
I have no idea. Maybe you're right and it was some sort of clerical error, because I've been hearing about this fight forever and never understood it.

Voting for the other party is literally cutting and running, though.
"My country was taken over by fascists. Did I run away? No. I stood and fought. By moving to another country."
The reason your analogy doesn't work is that in a scenario like that, it's the rebels who assume leadership after the government falls, not the neighboring nation they helped defeat it.

I think she's absolutely right that going after her here is petty, but I also think that she would do well to speak out against the idea that our culture still sees it necessary to put someone in a $15,000 outfit to take their picture for an interview about policy.
"She's going to talk about the downtrodden, human rights, and healing the planet. But we gotta make her COUTURE and FIERCE and FASHION FORWARD too for some reason." Sounds kinda... patriarchical? I dunno.
Fair point because this is another thing these magazines do. "AOC looking stunning in this Christian Siriano kashmir pants suit from his 2020 fall collection available now in stores."

The only way we will break out of this reality where angry internet people set national agendas is for companies and organizations to understand that a furious tweet with 250k retweets DOES NOT EQUAL 250k FURIOUS PEOPLE. 249.9k of them forgot they even RTed it five seconds later.
Sharing an angry tweet should require having to feel five seconds of horrible pain just so you can weed out the masses who hop on because it requires zero time and effort and thought.

Having some Knob Creek tonight. Real strong kick (high proof). It's sharper than some of the stuff I usually drink these days but not in a bad way. That's its character. I like it. Would work great in an Old Fashioned.
I'm trying to build a mental rolodex of different bourbons and how they "feel." So like 1792 is heady, fruity, and clean (almost like a cognac). Elijah Craig is earthy and dark (almost like a peaty single malt). This is in between but with a tangier, less rounded character.
I'd put Angel's Envy on the 1972 side of things too. It's kinda light and clean. If you like Single Malts, think of those as like a nice Highlands (Glenmorangie), while Elijah Craig is a bit more Islay (Ardbeg). Pardon me if I'm not using proper jargon. I'm just winging it.

I see people doing this so I'll try to do an October horror movie recommendation thread. Don't expect everyone to enjoy all of these, obviously, but some are weirder and obscure things I liked. FYI jump scare heavy movies aren't my thing so this'll be good if you don't like them.
Oct 1: The Descent (2005)

This one isn't really obscure anymore, and that's a good thing. I recommend you watch it knowing as little as possible. I had no idea what it was about (discovered it in 2006) and the experience was better for it. Image
Oct 2: The Blackcoat's Daughter (2015)

This movie does something super smart I've never seen and you'll be asking yourself why no one thought to do it before this. Love when I am surprised by a movie like that. Made by Oz Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins from Psycho. Image

this is not a drill, it's a dril.
Milbank has taken pains to avoid Nazi comparisons? I just Googled it and immediately came up with an example of him doing this from 2018. washingtonpost.com/opinions/is-it…
