1. #HAI, working in two refugee camps in Delhi, made a visit to Anganwa Pabuji Ka Mandir refugee camp in Jodhpur. There are 21 refugee camps in the city and all in deplorable conditions. #HAI will now collaborate with UJAS, a local organisation working with them for decades.
2, This camp, located in the outskirts, is seven years old, but still lacks facilities, including sanitation, drinking water, electricity, education & health facilities, a better access and so on. Consequently, the quality of life is poorer than even many slums. #refugee
3. Shelters are still poor, not able to provide required protection and dignity to inmates. There are only 16 toilets for a population of approx. 1,250 people. Consequently, open defecation is a norm in this camp too. #refugee
4. It's women, who are expected to fetch drinking water and they have to walk 1.5 kms to get it. #refugee
5. Universal Just Action Society - UJAS, headed by Mr Hindu Singh is working with these refugees. Mr Singh, now an Indian citizen, himself arrived to India as refugee in 70s. #refugee
6. UJAS is running tuition centres, pre-school education centres, livelihood activities and so on. UJAS has provided solar systems to families and also arranged school transportation for the #refugee children.
7. In absence of transportation, children had to walk 5 kms to reach schools and that was a key reason for them either not to get enrolled or drop out from schools. #refugee
8. However, there are many more problems facing these children. Vandana studied up to 5th in Pakistan. But she had to be admitted in class 1, when she arrived to India. Now she is class 7th, and feels embarrassed as she is older than other children in the class. #refugee
9. Bhawani, her younger sister is in the sama class. She is bright and studious. She wants to join IPS to serve her nation India, which is still not her nation as she awaits her citizenship. #refugee.
10. While men work as casual labourers, women, highly skilled on embroidery, still try to get a better market for themselves. UJAS is helping them to have better connection with market.
11. Despite all these challenges, the refugees are content that they are able to practice their religion freely here. One can see small temples in every household and a couple of temples in the camp. @swati_gs #refugee

3. There is one water point from the DJP from which water only drips and it takes forever to fill even one bucket of water. A few hand pumps have been installed but the water is not potable. #PakHinduRefugees
