In 1554 during rule of Gujarat Sultan Ahmedshah 3rd,famous Turkish navigator & Admiral of Ottoman Empire Navy Seydi Ali Reis visited Gujarat.He was an author,poet,mathematician & scholar of geography,astronomy,oceanology.He completed his famous book 'Kitab Ul Muhit' in Ahmedabad.
In 1554 when Turkish Navy admiral Seydi Ali Reis was in Persian Gulf with his fleet,he was encountered by Portuguese naval armada.Portuguese defeated him so he tried to flee to Gujarat.His fleet was hit by cyclone & ships dragged toward Gulf of Kutch.His fleet reached Saurashtra.
Turkish Admiral Seydi Ali Reis with his ships reached Saurashtra coast & went Diu via Miyani,Mangrol,Somnath.He feared of Portuguese at Diu & he went to Daman where he was helped by Gujarat official Malik Izid. As Daman was open port he warned Reis & advised him to go Surat.
In 1554 Surat was important port Of Gujarat Sultnat. When Turkish Admiral Seydi Ali Reis arrived Surat, he was received by Surat Sultnat Kotwal Aga Hamza. Seydi Ali Reis wrote details of Gujarat & its political situation in Gujarat Sultnat in his famous book 'Mirat Ul Memalik'.
Seydi Ali Reis wrote in his book about Gujarat Sultnat politics that Sultnat army accepted child Sultan Ahmedshah 3rd but Amir Nasir-Ul-Mulk revolted against Sultan. He sought help from Portuguese by promising them to give Gujarat ports Daman, Surat, Khambhat, Bharuch & 3 others.
As per Turkish Admiral Seydi Ali Reis writings,Gujarat Sultan Ahmedshah 3rd attacked Bharuch to punish rebel Amir Nasir-Ul-Mulk. Reis sent 200 Topchi (gunner) of his fleet to help Gujarat Sultan from Surat. Sultan Ahmedshah defeated rebel Amir (noble) Nasir-Ul-Mulk & killed him.
Turkish Admiral Seydi Ali Reis further noted that Gujarat Sultan Ahmedshah 3rd sent Amir Khudawandkhan to Surat from Bharuch as governor. Portuguese sent a message to Khudawandkhan to expel Turkish Navy fleet from Surat but he refused to order Turkey Navy to leave Surat.
In 1556 Turkish Navy soldiers became desperate at Surat as they were not paid salary for 2 years by Ottoman Empire. Admiral Seydi Ali Reis had no fund for staff salary & to maintenance of fleet ships. So he sold naval armaments, equipment & ships to Surat governor Khudawandkhan.
In 1556 most of soldiers of Turkey Navy at Surat left Navy & returned Turkey by their own means.Many Turk soldiers joined service Of Gujarat Sultnat & settled in Gujarat.Admiral Reis decided to return Turkey by land route.He with 2 officers & 50 soldiers left Surat for Ahmedabad.

Bhatias are originally Yaduvanshi Sama dynasty Bhatti Rajputs of Jaisalmer. In 1316 AD, 2000 Bhatia families migrated to Sindh & Punjab. In 14th century Bhatias were agriculturist & fisherman in Sindh.Vallabhacharya made them Vaishnav & vegetarian.They began to wear Janoi-thread.
Around 1350 AD some Bhatia families migrated to Kutch from Sindh. Here they settled in Tera,Vinjan & Kothara towns of Abdasa Taluka of Kutch. In 16th century Bhatias spread from Abdasa Taluka to newly founded Kutch cities Mandvi,Mundra & Anjar and Saurashtra. They became traders.
When Kutch king Khengarji founded Mandvi city in 1581 he invited Sindh big trader Bhatia Topan to Mandvi to develop trade & shipping of port. In 16 century Nagarsheth Bhatia Topan & his castes traders made Mandvi Kutch a major port of west India in middle age.He built Topan lake.

Some followers wrote us that today is foundation day of Porbandar city. In fact foundation date of Porbandar is not known. It is very ancient city which is mentioned in Purana. In Skandapurama it is mentioned as Sudamapuri, Puri & Paurvelakul. Porbandar is as old as Dwarka.

Congress-led bilingual Bombay state Government used brutal police power to suppress Mahagujarat Movement. Four students Punamchand, Kaushik, Suresh & Abdul of Mahagujarat Movement died in police firing at Congress Bhavan at Lal Darwaza area in Ahmedabad on 9th August 1956.
In 1958 AD Mahagujarat Janata Parishad tried to erect 4 martyrs monument at Congress Bhavan in Ahmedabad but Congeress-led bilingual Bombay state Govt removed it.On 1st May 1960 Gujarat State created from Bombay State after long struggle & agitation by Mahagujarat Janata Parishad
