Adonijah wanted to be the next king of Israel
By birth, it was his right
but there were two heavy yokes hanging on the neck of his ambition
The first was his parentage
He was David's son but his mother was not from Israel
She was from Geshur and as such, she was a foreign woman!
The influence of a mother over her child is huge
The Israelites would later see how dangerous a foreign queen is under the reign of Jezebel
But at this time, it was not popular to be crowned King without the support of both his father's tribe and his mother's tribe within Israel
The second hurdle was the King's blessings
As long as David was still alive, he needed the King's approval to be crowned
By this time David was 70 years old but very frail
The Bible recorded that he couldn't walk very well anymore and a young virgin had to be recruited to keep
him warm at night
Adonijah didn't want David to die without pronouncing him King
He made a deal with the palace guards to spy on the king everyday and give him a report about the king's health
Eventually a day came and he was told that the king had become so frail that he could
not stand up from the bed again
That was the opportunity he had been waiting for
He wanted the King to be so weak that he wouldn't be able to summon the strength to undo his crowning but he also wanted him alive so that he can tell the people it was with the King's blessings that
he was crowned king
He convinced Abiatar, David's minister for religious activities, and Joab, David's Minister of Defense to back his ambition
They had clandestine meetings to firm up their plans
They decided to follow the course of history in order to legitimize Adonijah's bid
David was crowned King in Hebron by the men of Issachar
(Men who understand the times)
Hebron was David's military base after he moved back to Isreal from exile
He ruled Judah for 7 years and 6 months from Hebron until the whole of Israel was handed over to him by Abner, Saul's
army general who Joab killed maliciously several years before then
Adonijah had set the stage for his ascension to royalty carefully
He got chariots and horses for himself and fifty bodyguards and had deliberately forged the perception of "crown Prince" in the heart of the people
The capital of Israel was Jerusalem and Hebron was far away
They needed a spiritual monument
Somewhere that can be said to carry the presence of God
Abiathar came up with a fantastic suggestion
Zoheleth, the serpent stone where Nehushtan, the copper serpent rod Moses made in the
wilderness was placed
There was no higher spiritual symbol in Jerusalem at the time apart from the tent where the ark of covenant was placed
Adonijah went to Zoheleth with Joab and Abiathar and started his coronation party
He invited all the other princes and relatives from Judah
but he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah -David's Body guardShimei, Rei, and Solomon
There were rumors that Solomon was being promoted by some but by age, Solomon was not in contention and the stench caused by how Solomon's mother's became David's wife was still being
talked about in Israel.
The moment Prophet Nathan saw what was going on, he went to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother
He was the one that delivered the message from God to David that Solomon's name was Jedidiah!
The name was prophetic because it spoke to the fact that God loves Solomon
and wanted him to become King
Prophets have a duty to watch over the Word of God and see that it came to pass
Nathan and Bathsheba struck a pact
They know they needed to put pressure on the King to act fast before Adonijah pronounces himself king and kill all his "enemies".
Hmm!
Bathsheba went to David first and presented a case for Solomon based on David's promise to her that Solomon will be King after him
{Prophet Nathan came in a few minutes later to remind the King of God's word
David got the message
He sat up and said "Take my servants with you and
put my son Solomon on my personal mule.Take him down to the Spring called Gihon, once there Zadok the priest and Nathan the Prophet should pour Olive oil on him and make him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet and shout "Long live King Solomon. Then come back here with him and sit
him on my throne. He will rule in my place because he is the one i have chosen to be ruler over Israel and Judah."
King David's last royal decree was carried out and all the people followed Solomon into the city, playing flutes and shouting for joy.
When Adonijah heard the noise
he became curious
What is going on? He asked
Jonathan, the son of Abiathar the priest arrived and told them Solomon has been crowned king!
All of Adonijah's guests scattered
They had been caught on the wrong side of history
Adonijah ran to the altar to seek refuge with God, Joab
and Abiathar also did the same
When Solomon was told of Adonijah's action, he promised that if Adonijah proved himself to be a man of honor, his life shall be spared
Adonijah failed the "man of honor" test a few days later
It cost him his life
Joab was also killed while Abiathar
was retired from his position in the cabinet
I Kings 1

I have seen God's will come to pass so many times
I have also seen man's will come to pass
I do not despise prophecy
I know God has a plan and the plan is for my good
So I rest on this as I watch and learn His ways today!

Certain things go well together
Black and white
Bread and fried eggs
Key and keyhole
Heaven and angels
Hell and devils
You get the gist
It is also possible for two things that ought not to be together to somehow be together
Like the Ark of Covenant and Dagon
Like oil and water
He saw a puzzle a few days ago
He started mulling over it somewhere in his mind
Then He saw another puzzle similar to the first one
A man called him from another continent
The man said his life was in turmoil
In his own words "He feel like the engine of a Ferrari that has
been placed in a wheelbarrow
Like a certified surgeon condemned to washing toilets
He was not living up to his full potential in any way
He needed help and the help was not only physical
He need help to figure out his life
His life is a mess...
Wow.
He understood the man's plight

The same spirit of lust that led David to Bathsheba came upon Amnon, David's crown prince
It is a fact that once a family member, especially a parent give an evil spirit the room to operate in his or her life
The children (If such are not in Christ) will also be subject to the
same spirit
The same way David couldn't resist the spirit, Amnon fell for it too
David slept with the wife of His brother (Not by blood but by oat) Uriah
Amnon slept with his stepsister
It was a very similar pattern
God was replaying to Israel, what David did in secret that led
to the death of Uriah
The same way David disguised the murder of Uriah under warfare
Absalom invited the King and the princes to the celebration of the sharing of his sheep and killed Amnon for raping his sister
It was a wicked blow to the heart for David
No parent should witness

I gave my life to Jesus about 50 times
I thought I was supposed to feel something changing in me
Like a driver shifting the gears of a vehicle or a bulb being turned on
When I didn't feel any different from how I felt before going for that altar call, i convinced myself that I
was too much of a sinner for the light of God to shine through
So I would leave that church and go to another
I would wait until the pastor preached a moving message and I would go to the altar for the altar call
Again, the effect of the moving story would fade and I would feel
unsaved
It was as if the word of God was having only a surface effect on my life
My sinful reality grew deeper and deeper and so did my despair
Sin is a very heavy load
No wonder Jesus called those who were lost in sin weary and heavy ladened
I remember smoking until i started

His mother's favorite line was
"Life is war and living is warfare
If you wait until you see what the
enemy is doing against you, it will
be too late.
The devil is a roaring lion seeking
whom to devour, it is our duty to
keep a step ahead of the enemy,
Yesterday's prayer is never
enough!
When I was a child, even though i
was born into a pagan family, i know
how hard my parents tried to fortify
us.
We are concoctions in the middle of
the night and in the afternoon
We ate concoctions on refuse dumps
Just so that they can keep us safe from
the arrows of the
arrows of the enemy
Despite all the incisions and concoctions
and sacrifices and divinations that they
did
Only four of my parent's eight children
survived
There was one of my late siblings that
i remember vividly
He died the very day my mother went
to enroll him in school
She

Jerry VS. Hanny

28 In that same year, at the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, from Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord, in the presence of the priests and all the people, saying
2‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. 3Within two years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.
4I will also bring back to this place King Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon, says the Lord, for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’

5 Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the

I wonder why people always angry with those who do not agree with them
Different opinions make for a healthy society
We must protect the dissenting voices
They might be right
They might even be God
Jeremiah found himself alone with his message at his time
God gave him the word
He shared it with the king and His noblemen
Nobody wanted to hear it
Jeremiah was slapped, insulted, and thrown into the well for holding on to the truth
Jeremiah was accused of trying to defect to the camp of the enemy and beaten for being a dissenting voice in his time
Hmmm!
Thank God Jeremiah didn't compromise
Thank God Jeremiah didn't throw in the towel
Thank God Jeremiah kept prophesying
At the end of the day, all the other prophets that rose against him died and their voices perished
It was Jeremiah's prophecy that guided Daniel in Babylon and
