At 2:20 AM, Donald Trump is speaking from the East Room trying to claim that the election is being stolen from him. At this time on election night in 2016, the results weren’t clear yet either.
Donald Trump claims he’s winning Georgia, but Georgia hasn’t been called yet.
TRUMP: “Frankly, we did win this election.” (He did not. The votes have not been counted.)
TRUMP says they will take this to the Supreme Court. He repeats that he believes he’s already won the election, which has not happened.
DONALD TRUMP brings MIKE PENCE up to the stage. Pence says they are “on the road to victory” — a very different claim than Trump made. But it doesn’t matter — Pence is standing by Trump’s side as he lies about the results of the election. He has endorsed this anti-democratic lie.
Donald Trump called it a “fraud” to continue to count votes. This does not sound like a democracy.
Vice President Mike Pence spoke as if President Trump had not just undermined our democratic process by claiming the election had already been won. He believes he can carry out his role as VP as if the president doesn’t exist. But that’s not how it works to be someone’s deputy.

At least 13,000 people are already here at President Trump’s rally in Hickory, North Carolina, per a Secret Service agent on the scene. The line to get in snakes at least a mile around the airport.
Well ok then.
Sometimes when the helicopter takes too long, they just start “Fortunate Son” over again until Trump has landed at his rally. I’m not mad bc CCR rules.
Nothing is ever spicy enough for me and I finally encountered a chef who views this as a personal challenge, so he’s just bringing me various hot sauce concoctions waiting until I finally start crying. This is honestly my dream. Love you @SazonRestaurant 🧡💛❤️
As I was interviewing two QAnon supporters in New Mexico at a pro-Trump demonstration, a volunteer who said she was with the Trump campaign — and wore a Trump credential — came up and told me she was instructed by the campaign to stand next to me and monitor my interview.
At political events, this has occasionally happened to me. During the Dem primary this year, for instance, a staffer working for Michael Bloomberg tried to follow me around as I conducted interviews with people who showed up to a debate watch party at a Bloomberg campaign office.
President Trump opened his rally in Des Moines tonight with a rant about Hunter Biden and the NY Post story. 20 days before Election Day, in the middle of a pandemic and an economic crisis, this is his message to voters.
Besides being an issue that probably won’t motivate any voters who aren’t already a part of his base, another issue with this message is that President Trump cannot pronounce “Burisma.”
Trump‘s Hunter Biden Hail Mary is an attempt to replicate their argument against Hillary Clinton (that she embodied “the swamp” he would drain). But they didn’t make that case on their own. Republicans spent over two decades calling the Clintons corrupt before Trump ran.
