Audi CEO Duessman about L3 for the A8

"We will no longer adapt the current A8 to this technology - for reasons of our own quality and safety requirements."

First the delayed L3 for A8 and now cancelled
"The charging station infrastructure is not yet as advanced as it should be. That's why we need the efforts of the public sector, but also cooperation like Ionity (...) It is important that everyone in this field gives full speed. (...) For me, charging is the key to success "
Duessmann reply when he was asked about Battery Day and Battery Innovation

"It is no secret that the battery is increasingly becoming one of the most important competitive factors. Accordingly, we are making the battery a core competence within the Volkswagen Group."
"We are concentrating fully on electromobility, the only way we can make a sustainable contribution to climate goals quickly and efficiently. In the long term, synthetic fuels are also conceivable, if combustion engines are still to have their place in fifteen years' time."
CEU Duesmann

"Audi has provided proof of concept in various pilot plants: e-gas, e-gasoline, e-diesel. Now it is up to the mineral oil industry to switch from fossil to synthetic fuels. In the long term, these fuels can make vehicles already on the market CO2-neutral" 🤦‍♂️
"I think that synthetic fuels will play a role above all in air and sea transport and in heavy goods traffic over long distances. In the passenger car sector, synthetic fuels will tend to remain the exceptions."

🇩🇪 Giga Berlin

Minister-President Woitke

"It is the largest private investment project in East Germany since reunification and probably also one of the largest industrial investments in the whole of Germany in the last 40 to 50 years. This investment shows that Germany is ..
... still an attractive investment location. We are trying to show, even at the speed Tesla needs, that Germany can also process approval procedures faster. There is no political influence on this. The procedure is legally secure, it is solely in the hands of the authorities. ..
They work at an enormous speed and yet no less conscientiously. I am therefore very optimistic that the first cars will roll off the production line next summer. In addition, the Gigafactory helps us to show that climate protection can be combined with value creation and jobs."

Lots of negotiations before the Auto Meeting today

BMW, Daimler, VW ... asking for incentives to increase demand

🇩🇪 Government is asking to skip dividends in return which Big Auto is reluctant to do
2/x

Auto Industry is asking for

€4k for BEVs & Hybrids & FC
€3k for ICE & Diesel
+€1k for crapping an old polluting car
+€1k for buying a BEV 2 years after you bought a car

This goes on top of the BEV/PHEV incentive that is already in place from Bafa.
3/x

A BEV can collect incentives under certain conditions all together up to €11k

Personally, I am against it

#1 If the Auto Industry is supported you need to support other industries as well

#2 Incentives don't help to innovate and improve competitiveness
