2/ i agree with several key assertions. excellent observation:
>[some call 2020] the most important election in their lifetime. On a personal note I disagree with that, because 2016 became much more significant due to the influence that Trump ended up having on the Supreme Court
3/ very much on point:
>I don't want us to hedge all of our bets on the future of this nation solely on the back of Donald Trump.
great, great:
“it's not whether or not you get knocked down, it's if you get back up.”
Kanye 2024, let's go
4/ and here we diverge.
>What if Joe Biden was legitimately elected the president of the United States?
"if legitimately elected" means "if the process worked as publicly described". it's more than merely "if according to the law".
5/ the spikes will be memed.
but the real damage is how the *process* was permanently warped and bodged and made both unreliable *and* untrustworthy.
whoever wins will not be *trusted* anyway. to *get back up* we need healthy election.
6/ >I don't want to see the Republican party abandon logic, reason, and analytical mindset
those are important virtues. those virtues dictate we do not blindly let the opponent benefit from changing the rules during the game - and especially not acquiesce to that.
7/ the role of the executive came to a head during the recent riots
*certain cities and states* were unwilling to protect citizens life and limb (and property); only *federal* deputisation helped.
Dems are disrespecting the constitution, and the media refuse to call them out.
8/ >So if we act like the presidency is the end of the world, what does that say about our understanding of how government works?
the next SCOTUS appointments.
right now the Rep hold on the Senate is tenuous. Senate + President make the SCOTUS appointments.
9/ >If Trump loses, Republicans simply need to figure out why
the rules that changed. it has been analyzed "to death" already.
new rules that allowed for both *election fraud* and also *low trust elections*, making people disinterested in protecting them and some even in voting
10/ >Speaking as somebody who is a right-leaning individual
you and me.
individualism is a great prize only possible thanks to serious people helping keep robust institutions.
when the republic gets corrupted and turned into mobocracy, the individualism goes out the window.
11/fin
don't let the sleepy executive and corrupt media put a lid on it.
tolerating Joe would mean a figleaf of legitimacy to the broken elections, more corruption down the line.
don't acquiesce, grill them journalistically til they disclaim their dirty methods.
your move 👍
it bears re-emphasizing:
Trump did well, & the whole conservative wing (sans the ethnonats) would do well to pay heed.
there are people open & ready to be included in a broad coalition. they work hard, want to integrate, & they share the american dream.
