Let’s have an honest conversation about the bad habits you just can’t break. If you’ve been trying for *years* to break a bad habit, but have been unsuccessful, here’s a place you can start.

Sit back, I’ll ask you to go deep. 1/
Here’s the thing...If you are working for *years* to break a habit unsuccessfully, it’s because that “bad habit” is serving a purpose in your life.

...yes, it’s actually doing something you are getting value from at some level. 2/
Finding out what that purpose & function is of that habit, is key to resolving it.

All "bad" entrenched habits are like this - even procrastination, micromanaging, workaholism, etc. 3/
Personally, I don’t personally call any habits “bad” because even the most dysfunctional habits are usually people doing the best they can in the moment. They just might be lacking or struggling in a skill area of their life. 4/
The big takeaway -->

The *function* of your habit will tell you everything you need to know about where to jump in to resolve it.

The skills you need to build, and the things you need to work on, are all told to you by the purpose the habit serves in your life. 5/
So, if you’ve been struggling for *years* - know that these habits are serving a very strong function in your life…and if you can get to the bottom of what it’s doing for you, you can get to the places you need to intervene to resolve it. 6/
Find the function, and you can solve the problem...because once you know what the function is, you can begin to have more effective things serve that function, or address what’s fueling it. 7/
And that’s how you begin to break long-standing bad habits.

If you’ve got a few you’d really like to work on, take some time and really think it through from a different lens today...you just might make some breakthroughs. 8/fin

A lot is said about the traits that make people successful...but what isn’t talked as much about, is what can sink you.

Here’s a thread on the specific things that hold people back - Use the weekend to reflect, make some changes if needed, and pull yourself ahead. 1/
Excuse-Making. If you make it or don’t make it, it’s ultimately on you.

Yes, many have circumstances that make it easier or harder...but people who come up with endless reasons why things don’t work or can’t work - instead of finding solutions - won’t make it. 2/
Not Executing…Regularly. You can have the best ideas in the world, but if you don’t actually do something about them, you won’t go anywhere.

Be a doer. It takes executing on things *regularly* to get ahead, because if you’re not, be assured other people are. 3/

Burnout is a response to overwhelming stress. It’s emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion - it’s no joke, and can sideline you for far too long.

Here’s a weekend thread to help you catch it early 1/
Getting cynical, pessimistic, or finding yourself more irritable? The first signs are usually mood related.

If you’re a boss, look for it. It’s not always that your employees “have poor morale” Sometimes...they’re overwhelmed. 2/
Other signs are often around anxiety & productivity.

You’re starting to tank & you feel it. You’re not meeting deadlines you used to. You feel stressed out, anxious & have a hard time concentrating. Your body is looking for breaks, you’re tired, and trying to push through. 3/
