This election was a testament to the strength and integrity of our nation’s democratic process, and now is the moment for true leaders in the Republican Party to condemn any and all efforts to undermine confidence in the legitimacy of these results.
More than 140 million people—including servicemembers stationed overseas whose votes are still being counted in many states—made their voices heard during this historic election.
Donald Trump’s meritless, contradictory statements & legal filings will not succeed and they will not change the facts: when all the ballots are counted, Joe Biden will have won more votes than any Presidential candidate in history.
The American people have spoken and, on January 20th, Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States. With new leadership in the White House, we will roll up our sleeves not just for the people dancing in the streets today, but for all Americans.
This includes our friends who believed Donald Trump would make their lives better. Now is the time to reach out to those we’ve disagreed with and work together to solve our problems, get us out of this pandemic and rebuild an economy that works for everyone.

Let’s get to work.

There are no words to adequately express just how devastated and heartbroken I am to learn of the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Not only did our nation lose a brilliant jurist, we lost a hero.
She was a 5’1” giant who gave a voice to girls and women everywhere and moved the needle forward in our long fight toward justice and equality for all.
Like so, so many other Americans tonight, I am deeply grateful for all she did to ensure equal protection under the law for women across this country & to defend the rights of so many others. She will be sorely missed, but her unparalleled legacy & impact will never be forgotten.

I owe more than I can say to the thousand activists who came together 30 years ago—the dozens who got out of their wheelchairs & crawled up the 83 steps of the Capitol—to demand that Congress give Americans with disabilities the basic rights our Constitution promised.
4 months later, #OTD, the ADA became law. But even as we celebrate all the great progress made in the last 3 decades this #ADA30, we haven’t gone nearly far enough.

In transportation.
In housing.
In education.
In healthcare.
In employment opportunities.
Every issue is a disability issue, b/c our community—at 60 million strong—is beautifully diverse. That's a gift, but also a responsibility.

We must bring about a tomorrow where accessibility is the default, not an afterthought or an inconvenience.

First, Donald Trump encouraged Russia to interfere in our democracy, and they did.

Now, Russia is secretly paying militants to *kill* U.S. troops. Trump has known for months but apparently done nothing to stop them. Meanwhile, he's helping Russia's effort to rejoin the G7.
Donald "America First" Trump is literally placing Russian interests ahead of American lives, and Republicans do nothing.

Putting party before country doesn't just empower Trump to continue serving his own interests, it can cost American lives too.
Our troops deserve to know what the Trump Administration is doing to protect them and why Donald Trump failed to take action in the first place.

I’m demanding a U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee hearing to get to the bottom of #BountyGate.

Right now, moms are working harder than ever -- juggling work, homeschooling, parenting & more.

Today on #MothersDay, let's remember that & give them all the love & appreciation those hardworking moms deserve.
I recently spoke w/@washingtonpost about what my experience has been during quarantine as a working mom. Honestly, I—like all parents—still worry and have self-doubt about whether I’m doing enough. Is my 5-year old going to be ready for kindergarten? Is that going to be my fault?
My schedule in many ways is more demanding and more full now than it was before. Because before, there was a real separation. I’d leave home and go to work, and there’d be a work schedule. Now there’s no separation.

During this #NationalVolunteerWeek, I'm proud of everyone who has stepped up to help out their communities in this time of need during #COVID19, including several members of my team. Here are some of the ways they've been giving back:
In Springfield, Cameron spends a few mornings a week delivering breakfasts and lunches to kids from her local school district whose caregivers don’t have access to transportation to pick up their meals.
Kirsten donated blood, which is desperately needed right now to make sure we have an ample supply for health providers to treat people during #COVID19, with @RedCross Image

The stress and uncertainty we’re all experiencing right now aren't easy, and there’s no shame in saying the measures we’re taking to prevent the spread of #COVID19 can be painful. Financial stress, health concerns & isolation are difficult & may leave us feeling helpless.
Physically distancing ourselves doesn’t have to mean we’re socially isolated – connecting with friends & loved ones is more important than ever right now – and it’s important we all #BeThere for ourselves and one another.
If you or someone you know is struggling to cope, you can get help by privately accessing online resources, and calling or texting expert professionals: suicidepreventionlifeline.org
