Former IAS officer Sashikanth @s_kanth announces his decision to join Indian National Congress. In a statement released in social media today, Sashikanth Senthil, a 2009 batch IAS officers says, “India is under the attack of an anti-democratic, 1/n
anti-pluralistic system in power which poses a threat to the very spirit of the country putting all of us and our children in great danger”

Sashikanth resigned in September 2019, saying “fundamental building blocks of our diverse democracy are being compromised in 2/n
an unprecedented manner”

He further says in the statement, “Political parties, the civil society, the institutions, individuals, each and every one who believe in love, affection and peace should join together as a combined force. 3/n
Every individual who believes in the constitutional values should join hands and be ready for any sacrifice to ensure the safety and peace of the underprivileged and the next generation”

Sashikanth says, the reason for his joining Congress is, 4/n
“Congress as a movement has always been one that is consistent with the founding ideologies of the constitution and that which moves with the people. The current leadership understands the spirit of this ideological fight and recognizes that India has to be for all. 5/n
It believes in the power of cooperation, not competition. It believes in unity and harmony not divisiveness and hatred.

Congress party is aware of the challenges that the 21st century poses for India and the world and is ready to find solutions alongside 6/n
the people of the country”

Sashikanth Senthil is likely to join Congress in the presence of AICC member Dinesh Gundu Rao and TNCC President and other Cong leaders tomorrow at Sathyamurthy Bhavan.

Republic TV Arnab Gowsami’s arrest has nothing to do with freedom of expression or journalism. 1/n
He was arrested on charges of abetement to suicide. Anvay Naik an interior designer from Mumbai killed himself and a suicide note by him named Arnab Gowsami of defaulting payments for the work he did at Republic TV Mumbai office. 2/n
The case was closed by Mumbai Police during BJP rule led by Fadnavis. Now based on the request from the family of Anvay Naik the case has been reopened and Arnab Gowsami has been arrested. 3/n
