For those who thought,it mattrted little who is the President in the USA for Pakistan, I want to say think again. Many of us, cheered for @BarackObama in our college days and early careers. Why? Because he said words we wanted to hear. He made us dream. He made us feel involved.
So apparently, despite not having a vote in USA, we cheered at seminars in UK Universities,we prayed for his victory.@BarackObama spoke of an inclusiveness and positivity that was the haven for all minorities across the world. The political correctness of his "Change" resonated
However, the increased number of drone attacks and blind expectancy to "do more ", the inability to call the troops back from Afghanistan despite the eagerness to do it along with many other disappointments started to accelerate the end of the era of political correctness.
The shift towards the extremist, righteous politics was ruthless and seemed almost final. The crudeness of @realDonaldTrump era was all powering and for sometime, it seemed like the naked truth though being ugly was perhaps the undeterred way to progression.
The crass disproportionate dissatisfaction with the promises of Utopia under@BarackObama which never materialized invoked acceptance of unthinkable and apparent wrong in @realDonaldTrump era.It was a time when we accepted being racist was okay. Being dumb is cool
What we had overlooked in these times that , words despite being not prophetic, still matter. The images of first Black south Asian woman becoming VP of USA matter. The story of a Senator in his dusky years shining to still promise hope matter. In short, hope is what matters.
So, while the world stays the way it was, something does change. Be it a glimmer of hope for some 19 year old landing in USA like @KamalaHarris's mother that someday her child could be in White House, that they will not be sent home packing after years of hard work in USA.
Or some kid in a distant part of third world trying to get good grades to get to #Howard, the world will look a bit different for them today. The shadows of being put into boxes in various parts of the world hovered for four years. They are being rejected.
While, country to country relations will have upheavals and mistrust, the people to people relation knit us in one huge family that is mankind. While economies run the world and dreamers are scorned, call me niave or innocent, but I still dare to dream. #USElectionResults2020

Some more points on #MotowayIncident that must be looked at in investigation. We need to clear the basics ,she was an educated n confident person who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The misleading sleazy /twisted details like who filed the FIR etc need to be ignored. 1/8
Investigation also needs to look at the following points. Why the attackers were so confident that she was alone, her car was locked and noone was coming to help her?How come they were sure abt how much time they had. Roadside could be place for bulgary/dacoity, not always for rape
She reached the toll plaza and paid for the toll. Asked for the nearest petrol pump.Moved forward. The car stopped. She called the motorway helpline, they apologised but gave her the local number. The person on the number came on what's app and took her location. Told her to wait.

Some more details on the sad #motorwayincident .The woman called the emergency number #130 and spoke to them giving them her location. They gave her a local number where she was told to call for help. She called that number and gave them the location too. She ,them waited for help
She is, obviously too traumatised to recollect everything.Yet, she said it was a long wait. She is of the opinion that she waited for at least an hour. She also said her car has special type of windows. It was next to impossible for an outsider to tell she was alone in the car.
When the men appeared, they headed straight for her car. They were also carrying a gun. One of them carried her two year old as they dragged her along. She tried running away once and waved at a passerby car. She said she was sure the car had stopped and she was relieved.

Just had a very sad conversation of the victims in Lahore rape incident. The story is heartbreaking and gives goosebumps. @ImranKhanPTI and @UsmanAKBuzdar must show zero tolerance in this case. The educated girl has travelled on this route frequently in the past. 1/6
The woman was at family friend's home. They advised her repeatesky not to go at that hour but she had travelled this route regularly, finding it safe. What came as a surprise was the finishing of petrol. She immediately called the motorway police emergency line when car stopped2/6
The police took her location. She was aware of her situation, so she locked her windows and doors. Two men (demons) appeared out of nowhere and started threatening her, they had long sticks and heavy stones, she screamed but could not move her car, they smashed the car windows3/6

During my life in the UK, I enjoyed full freedom to act according to my religion and go to mosques and community centres. I was impressed by the government funded Islamic state school in London. While, working with Muslim Council of Britain, we conducted conferences. 1/6
There was a government funded helpline to solve problems and questions of Muslims based on religion. For instance, once I got a call from a girl who wanted to give her grandmother a Muslim burial but did not know how and the helpline helped her, active helpline was to support 2/6
During my class lectures in Ramadan, the teacher would take a special break for 10 mnts so Muslims could open their fasts, at my office, my editor allowed me to use his room to pray namaz, he was Christian, one of my Jewish Colleagues used to bring me chocolates for iftar 3/6

At the cross roads of my life, at a sensitive time, I had found myself abandoned by a man with two little kids, the man refused to look after me or the children and decided to make his life elsewhere, in the same moment, another man, my father stood like a rock behind me, 1/10
Juggling between motherhood, womanhood and finishing studies and making a career was not an easy job. My father guardianed my two and a half months old as I travelled back to UK to finish off my studies. As I started my career in UK alongside my lil ones, the support came 2/10
Another man, head of our department at the University of Westminster, Alan Hiscok helped me by allowing my little one in the University as I studied, the librarian who would post the books to me so I don't have to travel with little kids3/10
