Matric learners now painted as insulted in a racist way? Surely there must be some empathy for how these youngsters must feel? Or are they now expected to understand that the bigger issue here are the rights of those who saw it fit to exclude them?

Does it matter anymore that youngsters were just automatically excluded in a perceived racist way, disregarded when others were affirmed, hurt where others were shown love, and ascribed the status reserved for post-racial South Africa - representative of your group identity?

So that we can do things and afterward bemoan we didn't do better. Point is, it's done, and whilst at your table we can analyze, debate and berate - it's there in the trenches people are negotiating the impact of behaviour on their daily lives.
