Urging the people of Liverpool to come and get tested, Brigadier Fossey says:

"We are set up and ready for you to come and get tested, please do not hesitate, make the most of this opportunity. What we are trialling now is a possible route out of lockdown."
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam says he is "hopeful but not yet certain but we could see some vaccine by Christmas".

Preference in the distribution of the vaccine will be categorised by age, he says

Jonathan Van-Tam says: "We are in the middle of the second wave and I don't see the vaccine making any difference for the wave we are now in."

He adds it would be a "colossal mistake" on any one of us to relax at this point
