fire safety norms. Due to this, projects thousands of crores were stuck due to lack of NOC. O.Panneerselvam, who is the Minister for CMDA, knew, he may not handle this portfolio beyond May 2021. 3/n
To make a killing in the fag end of this regime, he wanted a pliant officer who would issue NOCs blindly. Hence Jaffar’s postings.

That apart, Jaffar Sait’s brother in law (wife’s brother) Naushad and OPS’s brother OP Raja are childhood friends. This connection also helped Jaffar to make a killing just ahead of his retirement on 31.12.2020.
