Why Should One Start Freelancing at a First Place?

// A THREAD // Image
1. The future is bright.

For companies, it's enormously convenient to hire a person for the job and don't have to employ him full-time.

The future of work is in the cloud-based gig-economy (imo).

And as a freelancer, you will be well-positioned for both the future and now. Image
2. Network as a side product.

Freelancers work in teams.

The famous "Hollywood model" refers to the fact that Hollywood consists of many independent professionals who know and work with each other.

As a freelancer, you work in a similar way.

Team up with the right people. Image
3. You pay for flexibility and independence in growth.

The freelance life forces you to:

- Learn
- Improve
- Grow

Otherwise, the market won't care about you after some time.

If you hate stereotypes the chances are you will love freelancing. Image
4. What seems like time selling, maybe a productizing of yourself.

Yes, you renting up your time.

But you also:

- building a network
- can build a business around you
- can work for a % share

If you want to get rich starting with freelancing makes great sense. Image
5. Skin in the game.

Nobody will employ you if you cost him more than you earn him.
— but in normal work settings, a lot of people who costs more than earns are somehow hidden.

Not in a freelance world.

This pressure motivates you for the best results. Image
6. Freelancing as life insurance.

Being able to freelance usually means you:

1. have a high-income skill
2. can sell it

Whatever happens in your life this duo won't let you down.

Ever. Image
7. Human, not financial capital.

You don't need (almost) any financial capital to start.

Yes, you need the capital in form of:

- Time
- Skill
- Opportunity cost

But not a financial one.

The entry barrier (risk) is low and the upside is huge. Image
To sum it up:

1. The future is bright
2. Network as a side product
3. You pay for flexibility and independence in growth
4. What seems like time selling, maybe a productizing of yourself
5. Skin in the game
6. Freelancing as life insurance
7. Human, not financial capital Image

5 Fiction Books That Changed The Way I See The World

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”

The Death of Ivan Ilyich

by Leo Tolstoy

Why: You will die. You will die soon. And people will live forward...

And don't care much about the fact you lived.

Then they will die as well...

The lecture there? Live the life YOU want.

PS. Change it while you still can... Image
To Kill a Mockingbird

by Harper Lee

Why: Because as an adult, the other adults may be your inspiration.

But to see your silly side the kid is usually needed.

Even a one in a book. Image

How to Price Your Services in a Way You Don't Get Busto

// A THREAD //
Whether you're a full-time freelancer or you just want freelance on the side you have to know your price so you don't get busto.

We will discuss the three most common ways how to price your services:

- Hourly rate
- Project rate
- Service as a product

But basics first.
Don't think about the price as a one-night-stand.

Rather build a very close relationship with it.

How to Learn a High-income Skill

// A THREAD //
Learning a high-income skill may be very different from learning almost anything else.

It's hard, the process is nonlinear, frustrating, and painful.

Those all are also the signs that that process is effective.

Below are the best ways how to maximize that effectiveness.
1. Learn it every day.

Where to find time for it?

Early mornings or late nights.

...when the rest of the world is silent.

Action step: Pick a morning or night and design your day in a way you have time for that.

How to Use Cialdini's Influence Principles to Grow On Twitter

// A THREAD //
Robert Cialdini took various kinds of sales/marketing/door-to-door sales jobs to figure out what techniques those "magician of persuasion" use.

Then he defined the 6 principles of INFLUENCE.

How to use them to grow on Twitter?
1. Reciprocity

Don't be afraid to give away.

Give away:

- likes
- RTs
- engagement

The bigger accounts will notice... and reciprocate.

It's human nature.

Action step: Write 20 comments a day (don't ask for anything).

How to Get a Killer Testimonial.

Social proof is the most capable salesman out there.

But how to let others speak for you?

// A THREAD //
1. What is a testimonial?

Usually, we talk about one paragraph of flattering text your client writes about your work.

The goal is to grasp the strengths of the professional, type, and scope of work done.

The client signs it with his name, position contact, and photo.
2. What defines a good testimonial?

It' neither too long nor too short.

It's concrete. The type and scope of work should be recognizable from it.

It's written in simple English without complicated/niche-specific words.

Design Your Freedom: As a Programmable Robot

You can be programmed.

Why and How to take advantage of this?

// A THREAD //
1. You have to believe you're more a character in the game than a snowflake.

Let's take The Sims.

Imagine you're both the player and the character in the game itself.

Character does and feels, but the player can influence what...

This is immensely powerful.
2. It's an extremely powerful idea.

@kanyewest raps that we're the GTA characters.

@ScottAdamsSays writes about how practical is to treat ourselves as a programmable moist robot.

@ComedicBizman rarely sends a letter, which wouldn't be based on this idea...

Why?
