It is not the conforming masses that need protection for their opinions.

It is the dissenting minority that does.

I am afraid that the USA is losing that freedom which means so much more to the Democratic Republic than does any vote.

Today in the USA, one can lose a job, one can be threatened, one can be physically attacked and injured, for daring to sall "ALL LIVES MATTER". or that "it is OK to call men "men"
and women "women" rather than "it".

In June 1967, after flying to Italy from Israel, I was sitting eating dinner with my then girlfriend (now my wife) in her parents' home, the TV on the News, from RAI.

The presenter was named Levi, and he was reading the News, one report from Israel, and he began by saying "ECCO UN RAPPORTO DELLA CAPITALE DI ISRAELE - GERUSALEMME"

The screen went blank suddenly to be replaced by one of those test images. Several minutes went by, and another TV presenter was suddenly shown, moving on to other stories.

You see, it was not "Politically Correct" in Italy in 1967, to mention Jerusalem was Israel's.

In 1973, I was in Italy for a few weeks for a family visit and business. I had to send a telegram back to Jerusalem. The Post office refused to send it because I wrote Jerusalem, Israel. They said there was no such place.

To send the telegram I had to write Jerusalem Palestine. It was still Gov't policy & no one was allowed to say differently.

Freedom, Liberty in 1967 Italy, to say what you believed publically was unacceptable. Dissent was unacceptable - & that was in a free Western nation.

And today in the USA, one cannot assert "All Lives Matter" or criticize Black Lives Matter for its antisemitism.

Dissent impossible -- then Liberty dies."
