We appear on a fast track to global socialism and we are living through the most destructive economic policies conceivable.
Truth has become a joke and almost everyone is participating in a cult of lies and government power
...
And I must admit that I am not sure we can get out of this. I am hopeful bitcoin will survive this and be the tool that helps us escape future attempts to destroy the productivity of the world, but an Internet shutdown or global censorship of it is no longer insane.
...
However this is not the first time things have been near or completely hopeless.
In fact one of the earliest stories that humans posses is of a centralized government established through violence that created a powerful cult based on epic propaganda and a false religion.
...
All (or almost all) people were completely onboard. The plan involved the greatest public works project then conceived. A massive city and tower specifically placed in an area that would require ever stone to be crafted by extensive human labor (brick).
...
The express purpose was to extravagantly use up so much human capital that future generations would be impressed by the power of this central government and would never forget its name.
Similar in concept to NASA or the Egyptian pyramids - a statement of state power.
...
And it was going to work. Any good men looking upon the future would have seen that they support was present and that the project would move forward growing ever greater at the expense of ever more human life and freedom.
There was nothing conceivable that would stop it.
...
But God (see my statement at the end for those that hate the idea that God exists) was not caught off guard or unable to imagine how to fix this problem that would ensure a nightmare existence for the people He created.
He simply gave them multiple languages.
...
This immediately stopped the project, put and end to that government, put and end to that twisted state religion and replaced the centralizing forces with decentralizing ones.
And to any good men this would have been completely inconceivable as a solution.
...
No man had ever been unable to understand the language of another man. They had all spoke the same language since Adam.
...
So even though it appears completely (or nearly completely) hopeless remember that humanity has faced hopeless situations many times through our existence and it has often been in the face of powerful and unstoppable government and God has always rescued us.
...
It is not insignificant that this story is one of our oldest in recorded history. And it has been repeated many times.
(end)
(comments for people that hate the God of the bible follow)
Even if you think that God does not exist I hope that you can find some encouragement in the undisputable fact that this is one of our oldest stories. For me it is trustworthy history and I'm usually happy to debate it's reliability, but if you must take it as myth...
You should get some comfort in the age of the account and the fact that it addresses so much of what we are facing at either our earliest recorded history or at our pre-history.

This will take a month or two and he will be ready to write code for a real project. Not a lot of code, but this is the single most important milestone in his career - solving real problems.
