2) Q) At that time who performed the “law enforcement” function?
A) A standing army
Article I Section 8 Clause 12 forbids a standing army for a period longer than 2 years.

3) I can show you quotes from probably a dozen or more Founding Fathers warning about the dangers of standing armies.

4) I can show you almost as many quotes from them showing that they feared domestic tyranny above any threats from foreign invaders or even from “foreign mischief”, that comes from a standing army.

5) Referring back to Jefferson’s quote above, a free people cannot maintain freedom when a State holds the sword and the purse. The people must have the power to “police” themselves.

6) This notion that we can elect a “savior” is largely what got us where we are now. If we are not willing to actively participate in the protection of our freedoms & liberties and our Natural Rights it’s impossible to find anyone who will do it for us.

7) Why would anyone fight harder for your Rights, than you are willing to do for yourself?

8) The Founders gave us the Bill of Rights as a written documentation of what they considered our most important Natural Rights. They gave us the Constitutional Militia structure as a mechanism that we could use to “own” the protection of our rights.

9) The 2A and relevant Articles of the Constitution itself was not given to us as a “last resort”, it was the intended enforcement mechanism of the rest of our Rights.

10) We have failed to maintain that enforcement mechanism and it’s the only tool at our disposal that could be used to push the Federal government back into the box, that the Constitution was intended to be.

11) @roadtoserfdom3 has the right idea, if it’s backed by a “well regulated (trained & provisioned) militia”, I cannot envision too many people having the confidence to push very hard for a "recall".

12) We The People HAVE to be our own “law of the land”

But that will never happen if everyone continues to think that they can just elect a hero to do it for them.

1. “execute the Laws”
2. “suppress insurrections”
3. “repel invasions”
