I would like to thank #IWS_Network for giving me this opportunity to share my story, challenges, and success in the Voices without Frontier (VWF) program #iwsvoices. Stay tuned to hear my story :). #IWS #WomenInSTEM
Through generations both on the paternal and maternal side, we were farmers growing commercial crops.
My parents always taught me that “Satisfying the hunger of the needy is the best way to support our community”. #IWSVoices @IWS_Network #agriculture Image
My dad always used to tell me that if you are well educated you will have more knowledge and courage to face the world. @IWS_Network His words inspired me and I move out of my home town at a very young age to continue my education in an English medium school. #IWS #iwsvoices
I Stayed in a boarding school and it turned out to be a big blessing. I learned adaptability to a new place, people interaction, coordination, and teamwork. I still miss my boarding life :( #IWS #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #voices #frontiers program
Post the rosy boarding period, the flowery life turned thorny. During my undergrad years, I hopped across staying with friends and relatives. I realized the difficulties of staying away from my parents. #IWS #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #voices #frontiers Image
Psychologically managing with many personalities across different age groups in an alien world drained my energies and study got limited to late nights. Resilience and will power to achieve my masters helped me sail through.@IWS_Network #iwsvoices #voices #frontiers #WomenInSTEM Image
Post my masters I moved back to my town. My father had got into active politics and needed support to run his business. I took over as the director and managed for a year. I was responsible for Profit/Loss, Budgets, Company, People, & Political management @IWS_Network #iwsvoices Image
My longing to pursue a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology came true when I got admission @uom_icd. It was a great opportunity for me to work at the Asian seed health center. #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #voices #frontiers
Leading projects in the Agriculture industry happened early on during my Ph.D. I led projects on-field and greenhouse-grown crops against different diseases. The project was funded by @AdvantaSeeds #IWS #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #voices #frontiers
My colleagues were impeccable. Some days we even worked more than 7 hours a day in the field. The coordination & synergy made the hard work look easy through smiles, snacks, & coffee. I am indebted to them for their support and encouragement #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices
Stepped up in my personal life and got married post Ph.D moved to another city and continued research @NCBS_Bangalore & then took up a job with an ag company in India. I had the privilege to build a friendship with amazing people in different walks of life @IWS_Network #iwsvoices
Parenthood blessed me when I moved to the🇬🇧. Post🇬🇧, I moved to NS and continued my contribution to Canadian research at @DalhousieU & @AAFC_Canada.Passion did not hinder me though it was strenuous to drive 200 km daily to and fro from Halifax #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices
I moved from NS to GTA and hoped for better growth. It was a challenge to break the ice, understand the system & find the right opportunity. Fortunately, my network came in handy & got a contract, I started my ANRS consulting Inc👩‍🌾.#WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #frontiers
Connecting with leaders was a success for me during this pandemic.I was fortunate to find @JohnstonPari on LinkedIn and started following her. In one of her posts,I learnt about @sciencepolicy.Currently I volunteer and contribute at #CSPC2020 #WomenInSTEM @IWS_Network #iwsvoices
Learnt about IWS through @PoojashriMishra, @ShwetaGanapati @EdnaMattaC & was glad to join the IWS family. The homely feel of cooperation, partnership, synergy, support makes me nostalgic. I feel like I am back to boarding days!!! @IWS_Network #iwsvoices #WomenInSTEM #frontiers
Being a thought leader, I practice and believe in being humble, having a positive outlook, being resilient, & having perseverance. I thank @IWS_Network for giving me this opportunity to share my story on Voices without Frontier program #frontiers #WomenInSTEM #iwsvoices
