1/ Remember Tesla's "Warranty Adjustment Program" for Model S/X owners who had touchscreen display problems including straight up blackouts? Welp. NHTSA / ODI just expanded the investigation into an "engineering analysis," per @Reuters reuters.com/article/us-tes…
2/ From the NHTS Office of Defects Investigation filing on 11/12/2020: " There are precedents for addressing defects that result in loss of either backup camera, defogging, or turn signal functions under Investigation: EA 20-003." In other words... static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2020/I…
3/ Tesla offered a "warranty adjustment" -- which will cover costs for some people who had to pay for MCU repairs out of pocket, and enable replacements of flawed MCUs or components for some owners -- however, seems like they still could face a mandatory recall.
4/ NHTSA ODI filing also shows their office received 537 complaints about the MCU issues. And Tesla provided ODI wi/ "2,399 complaints and field reports, 7,777 warranty claims, and 4,746 non-warranty claims related to MCU replacements."
5/ Per NHTSA ODI: "The data show failure rates over 30 percent in certain build months and accelerating failure trends after 3 to 4 years-in-service." AND "Tesla indicated that the MCU failures are likely to continue to occur in subject vehicles..."
6/ What do you know? If consumers tell regulators when there's a problem, eventually they have to take a look into the matter.
7/ In case you missed it, here was our story at @CNBCtech last week on the Tesla warranty changes impacting some Model S and X owners. Don't call it a recall... yet. cnbc.com/2020/11/09/tes…

appalling lack of empathy here. my friends and sources in healthcare are so far beyond “busy.” this jerky comment made me flinch. quote tweeting just to watch the ratio.
Good time to re-up this post about how to avoid FACIAL BRUISES from long shifts wearing PPE. rcni.com/nursing-standa…

1/ Revised thread: Why do people care so much about the photo of Elon Musk with Jeffrey Epstein’s “networker” Ghislaine Maxwell next to him? washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-s…
… Musk says she photo bombed him. A recap.
2/ Last year, NYT reported that sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein claimed a serious connection to Musk & said he was doing work for Musk’s biggest company, Tesla, in 2018. nytimes.com/2019/08/12/bus…
Musk & Tesla flatly denied it. But questions remained.
3/ Context: Celeb CEO Musk had an eyebrow raising history of dating much younger celebs, once attended a "sex party" thrown by a Tesla board member (per 'Brotopia'medium.com/@paulbiggar/th…) and called Vern Unsworth a "pedo guy," resulting in a trial that Musk won.

1/ Here are some of the questions I have for all involved in reopening the Tesla Fremont car plant:
2/ The county health officers said they see "progress" on certain Covid-19 indicators Tesla can go beyond min. basic operations this week, prepare to reopen next week. So - where have they see progress, on which indicators and from what starting date?
3/ The county said Tesla submitted a revised, better plan to protect workers. Well - what new measures do they expect to be implemented at Tesla Fremont, now? More PPE, more PCR testing, other?

1/ Read the e-mail that Laurie Shelby, Tesla VP of environment, health & safety, sent to workers on Fri. to prepare them to come in for shifts this week. (Bottom of the post.) via @CNBCtech from me & @emma_newburger today. cnbc.com/2020/05/10/cor…
2/ Employees don't know if Tesla will be cleared to reopen the factory but they've been asked to come in this week-- at CNBC we learned this from internal correspondence. If they don't come in, they don't get paid. No points off officially, but office politics a risk.
3/ Now, Tesla has this health check list-- if employees have any signs or symptoms or vague feelings they could be sick, or got exposed to Covid-19, they're not supposed to come in. But if they stay home? It sounds like no pay. "Call HR." cnbc.com/2020/05/10/cor…

Tesla factory is still open for business as Musk tells employees ‘I will personally be at work’ cnbc.com/2020/03/17/tes… <--- Employees tell me they want to take time off to avoid covid-19, but worry if they do they will get bad performance reviews. via @cnbctech
In an "everybody" email Tesla CEO Elon Musk compared covid-19 to the flu, and said it was the latest form of the common cold. But those are inaccurate comparisons and categorizations, doctors and scientists with relevant experience have established. cnbc.com/2020/03/17/tes…
Workers who commute to Tesla in Fremont via company shuttles are given hospital grade hand wipes when they get on. An HR email sent to everybody (after Musk sent his) encourages social distancing at work. Employees say it's not always possible. cnbc.com/2020/03/17/tes…
