Finally awake . Slept like I wasn’t gonna wake up.

What a fucking weekend!

Firstly, thank you to everyone who checked up on me here, on phone and called and came to see me. Truly appreciate it

So how did I end up locked up at Central Police Station for 3 days?

It started on Friday the 13th...

Just to get it out of the way, yes I was guilty of breaking curfew hours. I was arrested at 11:30 pm.

On Friday, some folks convinced me to go to XS Millionaires. I was hesitant to go (since March I haven’t been out past curfew hours, not even once) but they convinced me cops don’t arrest people there. So I went

Long story cops came in at 11pm. Arrested every single person. Order was from the highest political office and they were told not to release anyone or take a single bribe to let anyone out.

Over 300 people were arrested and taken to different stations central, langata, Kilimani, jogoo etc I ended up at Central

Cops weren’t taking any money and there was no cash bail for anyone. Order was we must all be taken to court Monday. I can assure you no one was released

So yesterday over 2000 people who’d violated curfew hours across Nairobi during the weekend were brought to Kasarani stadium arena. No social distancing. A magistrate was present and she’d call you by your police station, read your charges and set a fine for you

They finally got to us Central Station at 8:15pm . Was charged with contravening curfew hours. Fined 5K and released.

My biggest worry right now is if I was exposed to Covid at the station. There was no social distancing , no running water for 3 days, no soap, no cleaning and we slept on the floor crowded at the station.

So they arrested for violating Covid restrictions but they’ve exposed us even more. If one person had it, I have no doubt we all have it.

So I’m social distancing in the house and in a mask the house. Smdh

Anyway, lesson to you all,don’t be outside past curfew hours. THERE IS NO CASH BAIL/BOND regardless of who you are . People brought waheshimiwa to bail them out. Nothing. People offered 100K nothing. You have to stay all weekend

No one and I mean no one can bail you out. People missed flights, tourists were arrested tried to call their embassies but the order was from highest office. No one leaves

This is about stopping covid on paper but I suspect its a money minting scheme. I know over 2K people paid enough fines to set pocket straights.

And they exposed to Covid tenfold. Worse than where they found us

I don’t even wanna talk about conditions at police stations.

The officers at Central were very kind to us for the most part.

But I remain steadfast i. abolish the police and incarceration by all means.

There is also a gross violation of rights here with this no bail/bond detention. But this is Kenya.

So many thoughts and reflections but I’ll keep adding them here as they come to me
