Once again extolling the nonsensical and toxic fuckery of “civility” and “unity,” which much like toxic positivity, demands we delude ourselves into a lockstep that benefits who?

Biden hopes to avoid divisive Trump investigations, preferring unity.

nbcnews.com/politics/justi…
Two days after the election, and before Biden was declared winner, I wrote about this obsession with “unity” and “civility” feministgiant.substack.com/p/essay-femini…
“My concern if Joe Biden wins the presidency is that the white liberals who spent the Trump era crying  “This isn’t my America” (sidenote: WHAT FUCKING AMERICA HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING IN?) will now celebrate “My America is back!” and go on amnesia overdrive.”
Those of us who want liberation, remember. Democrat or Republican, regardless of who occupies the White House, I fight the crimes of white supremacist patriarchy because the presidents never do. feministgiant.substack.com/p/essay-femini…

Feminism is not easy or nice; it is fire and a fight. I am not playing; I am here to destroy. Feminism is the destruction of patriarchy; daily, because patriarchy will not be packing up and leaving, never to return, when the polls close.

feministgiant.substack.com/p/essay-become…
Feminism demands. A lot. It demands more than equality with cisgender heterosexual men. Men are not my yardstick. If men themselves are not free of the ravages of racism, capitalism and other forms of oppression, it is not enough to say I want to be equal to them.
Feminism is not about doing what men do or being what men can be. I do not want what men have. I want much more.

I want to be free. That is a demand I make daily.

I never wanted children and I am childfree by choice so #ThxBirthControl - all of the various methods I’ve used.
My maternal grandmother was pregnant 14 times. She had 11 children, the eldest of whom is my mother who has 3 children, the eldest of whom is me.

I am happily childfree by choice. #ThxBirthControl
I wish I could talk to my grandmother so that I can hear from her what it was like to be pregnant 14 times. I was 13 yo when she died and had not had that conversation with her.

My paternal grandmother had eight children.

Thank you @mr_mokgoroane for posting this. It was wrong of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to dismiss the anger and hurt of the trans community at J.K.Rowling’s transphobia and to side with a powerful author whose transphobia endangers trans people.
Here’s background: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie thinks JK Rowling's anti-trans essay was 'a perfectly reasonable piece' pinknews.co.uk/2020/11/15/chi…

I love this article by @molarawood.
Congratulations @MaazaMengiste and @efie41209591, who are shortlisted for the @TheBookerPrizes!

Africa basks in Booker boost for female writers bbc.com/news/world-afr…
“The fact that there are 2 Africans, there are 3 Black people on this list, feels like this is a clarion call...that it’s possible to judge something fairly, not fall into tokenism,to judge a work for what it is. It feels like it sets a new path for the competitions” @MaazaMengiste
"I’ve often been the only African, only Black person, on a list;and this time it seems like the judges have thrown down a gauntlet & said they’ll judge a book by what's actually written, and not on reputation of a writer or reputation of the power they might have on the industry”

I love the logo! And especially appreciate the Ankh - key of life - on the wrist, in a nod to our shared Egyptian heritage. Follow Sheyam Ghieth on Instagram where she posts many of her beautiful designs, which have a distinctly feminist and queer ethos.
Also, look for BROTHERS, a critically-acclaimed short-form narrative series she produced that follows a group of transgender male friends, exploring what it means to go up against traditional societal gender roles. brothersseries.com
