Okay let’s take a poll. Have you ever emailed a stranger asking them for pictures of the bookshelves in their house so you can find new readings? (Maybe this is a digital new norm.)

So far, a full 15% of you think this is a grand idea. I am...surprised. Which, yay to be for still having that capacity. FASCINATING.

And more than a handful of people are deeply angry with me for even tweeting about it. Which...also, FASCINATING.

So far, here is what I have learned. People are very strange. There are some new, as-yet marginal norms about taking and sharing pictures of your personal spaces with strangers. And, people are very strange.

Regardless, do NOT ask or expect me to send you any kind photos on demand no matter how you intend to use them. I...will not do that.

If you think we aren’t now going to have a show about this, you’ve got another think coming

Tonight’s Hallmark movie has a real problem: the female lead reads as casually racist. That’s a problem because it’s one of their new IR films.

They tried a “meet cute” where the woman ignores the male lead in an empty room. It’s typical hallmark. When they’re both white, the woman comes off as “big city”. When a white woman doesn’t “see” the black man standing right in front of her — it feels racist.

It just goes to show how tough it’s going to be for Hallmark to just change the complexion of actors without also having more sophisticated writing.

I mean, disagree if you want but I have a long list of citations about how much the elite do not care about being smart. Smart is also for genetic losers. Smart women are an oxymoron.

They attack her credentials as an attack on the idea of credentialism, not because they care about smart. Trump attacks IQ etc not because he is insecure but because he genuinely believes smart is a genetic endowment

The gist seems to be that masturbating on work calls is unavoidable and totally understandable and during a U.S. election maybe even necessary.

As someone who thinks your employer should have no dominion over your household I am ethically committed to defending your right to masturbate in your own home under any conditions.
