Today I joined a call with members of the Nevada press to provide a quick update on my current condition & Stay at Home 2.0. Here are some highlights...
First, I want to thank all the Nevadans who have reached out and taken the time to check in on me since my COVID-19 diagnosis. I am doing well, with only mild head congestion earlier this week.
Since my diagnosis was on Friday, Nov. 13, I will be finished with this home isolation period early next week, assuming all the criteria is met, including being asymptomatic for 24 hours following my 10 day isolation, per CDC guidelines.
It was at my last press conference a week ago that I asked Nevadans to mimic their Stay at Home behaviors from the spring to help give our public health systems – testing, contact tracing, and our hospitals – more time to catch up as we continue our fight against COVID19.
I am incredibly concerned about the severity of COVID-19 in our State, as demonstrated in the increase in numbers. My administration is exploring all mitigation options available to get this under control, while walking a tightrope to balance public health & economic impacts.
We are gathering information on mitigation options that consider the balancing act between our public health and economic realities. The goal is to have the most impact on mitigating the spread and the least impact on our fragile economy.
Nevadans should expect to hear from me on our status and next steps in the near future. I am aware of how consequential these decisions are & I continue to work with state health officials, emergency management & economic leaders to determine the best approach.
