2/ Here my report for @akhbar on the new ISIS files I discovered in Syria.
It gives information on Al-Fateheen unit. 800+ documents with many Jihadi names of ISIS members. Also in which battle they participated, how much salary & war spoils they got.
3/ These new ISIS files were left behind by ISIS when they fled. They were saved by citizens. I held originals in my hand and photographed them. Docs were filled out by ISIS fighters from Germany, Australia, France, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey etc, incl 100s of Syrian ISIS members.
4/ Most of docs are ISIS questionnaires like one below. They are filled out by ISIS fighters. Questions are: What's your name, address, social status, nr kids, age, local or foreigner, which country, arrival date, date of pledge of allegiance, who recommended you to go to ISIS? >
5/ More questions on ISIS docs: What's ur rank in ISIS, current emir, when did u become religiously committed, when did u become committed to Jihad, which sheikh inspired u, which Islamist or jihadi groups u worked with before, education/profession before ISIS, skin& eyes color?
6/ New ISIS files are from 2014, when ISIS was still expanding territory.
You might think: Oh, 2014 is long time ago.
True, but realize that these docs are especially important to map ISIS as an organization + find evidence on individuals. So all docs - old or recent- matter.
7/ Among the ISIS files, five were filled out by German ISIS members in Syria.
ISIS asks them: With which Islamist or Jihadi group have you worked (before joining ISIS)?
Four of the Germans answered: Al Furqan mosque Germany. 1 of the 4 specified: Furqan mosque Bremen Germany.
8/ 5th German doesn't answer if he joined other jihadi groups before coming to ISIS.
But interestingly (or better: worryingly), further in the questionnaire, ISIS asks him what job he had before joining ISIS. He answers: "Military".
His name is Abu Mohsen (28).
9/ The names of the 4 ISIS Germans, who said they were with the Furqan mosque (in Bremen) before joining ISIS, are from top left clock wise:
Abu Moussa, Abdul Kareem, Abu Azzam and Abu Dawoud.
Here are the front pages of of their ISIS questionnaires (back pages in next tweet):
10/ And here the back pages of the questionnaires of the 4 German ISIS members in Syria: Abu Moussa, Abdul Kareem, Abu Azzam and Abu Dawoud, starting top left clockwise.
(Front pages in earlier tweet.)
11/ Worth noting that the Furqan mosque in Bremen, Germany, was closed by the authorities in December 2014 due to involvement in extremism. presseportal.de/pm/30479/28987…
12/ So far, I presented many details on the 5 German ISIS fighters in Syria. I can't give here details on all other ISIS members because there are a total of 840 files so that would be too much work for me. But u can check all files here or download them: akhbaralaan.net/jenan/isisfiles
13/ Why am I putting all these ISIS files online? Reason is that there is no realistic chance that anytime soon an effective ISIS tribunal is going to be set up by the international community. So by putting the ISIS files online, everybody can use/ study this database.
ISIS woman Omaima Abdi was sentenced today in Hamburg to 3 years and 6 months in jail on 4 counts:
1- Membership of a terrorist organization. 2- Neglecting her duties as a parent. 3- Possessing illegal firearms 4- Aiding and abetting the slavery of a Yazidi girl.
3/ While inside the Hamburg courtroom #ISIS woman Omaima Abdi was sentenced to 3.5 years, outside a handful of anti-ISIS demonstrators carried posters. On it slogans such as: "Women also can be culprits" and "Protect the victims".
Trial of #ISIS woman Omaima Abdi, whose phone content I found in Syria, ends today. The verdict is expected this morning. The trial started after I broke the story.
This is the court building in Hamburg where it's all happening today.
1/ Huge: Interrogation files shared with me by @CTCWP show that ISIS leader, Amir al Mawla, betrayed at least 19 of his comrades to American interrogaters in 2008 after his arrest.
Files reveal that Al Mawla gave detailed information on ISI, AlQaeda etc.
2/ This is a painful report for ISIS leader, Amir al Mawla.
Because "tactical interrogation reports" show that the current head of ISIS betrayed at least nineteen Islamic State comrades to U.S. interrogators after he was captured by American troops in Mosul back in 2008.
3/ On top of that, the current ISIS chief Amir al Mawla, back in 2008, told the Americans the full structure of the Islamic State of Iraq in Mosul, the structure of the Sharia organization in Mosul &the structure of the admin organizations. Names, telephone numbers, everything.
3/ In one of the "tactical interrogation reports" from 2008, al Mawla (the current ISIS chief) explains that he, as a Sufi, did not even swear allegiance or “bayat” to the Islamic State of Iraq because he was scared for them.
1/ EXCLUSIVE: I worked for last 3 weeks on this story about ISIS leader Amir al Mawla.
Until now not much is known about him but files shared with me by @CTCWP are a treasure trove.
Here is Al Mawla's identity card. And he isn't a Turkmen but an Arab.
2/ Already 12 yrs ago, in Jan 2008, U.S. forces in Iraq captured Amir Al Mawla in Mosul. Back then, Al Mawla worked with the ISI – the Islamic State of Iraq. The US army interrogated him extensively & wrote everything down in “tactical interrogation reports.”
