1/ America is confronting a crisis like we haven’t seen since 1930, and, just as happened during the Republican Great Depression (yes, that’s what they called it in the 1930s), the GOP is committed to making it worse.
2/ The Republican Party’s latest 2020 scam gives Trump a tiny chance of hanging onto the White House while doing massive, permanent damage to American democracy and, as if they consider it a bonus, kneecaping and, in some cases, killing working class and poor Americans.
3/ Covid diagnoses & deaths are exploding across the country; millions of Americans will lose unemployment benefits, eviction protection, & a pause in student loan payments the week after Christmas; & all Mitch McConnell will do is push through more unqualified rightwing judges.
4/ Meanwhile, Trump is shifting his strategy to hang onto power and become America’s first dictator to asking Republican legislators in a few swing states to simply award him the presidency through the Electoral College, a strategy that held for three hours in Michigan.
5/ He figures that even if he can’t pull that off and stay in the White House, his scam has already convinced about 80% of Republican voters that he’s a martyr, so they’ll continue to follow him politically and keep sending him millions of dollars a month in the small donations.
6/ The House passed legislation back in May that addresses most of the crises American families are facing, from ongoing unemployment payments and help for small businesses, to funding for hospitals and first responders in the states and cities to deal with Trump’s Covid crisis.
7/ Mitch McConnell, however, refuses to even allow a conversation about that in the US Senate. And only four of his Republican members have acknowledged Joe Biden‘s victory, suggesting the rest are willing to go along with Trump’s power grab and post-presidency fundraising scam.
8/ If you are represented by any Republicans at the state or federal level, there has never been a more important time than now for you to reach out and demand that they fulfill their oath of office and stand up for the Constitution and the American people.

1/ The “freedom“ America’s billionaires are selling is killing us.
2/ America’s rightwing billionaires comfortably hang out on their massive estates, giving instant Covid tests to their live-in servants, while using the word “freedom“ to describe their lifestyle in the rightwing media they own or support.
3/ The headline yesterday over at Newsmax reads, “No Masking Biden’s Disdain For Freedom” and one at RedState references “Covid Tyranny.”

1/ Racist Billionaire Grifters: It’s time to call the Republican Party what it is.
2/ All across America today, millions of people are terrified. And it’s not just fear of getting a deadly COVID illness that often leads to strokes, dementia, long-term heart disease, and kidney failure.
3/ Over 30 million Americans are unemployed, and because of repeated Republican cuts, the unemployment benefits for many run out at the end of the year. Since early summer, we’ve been adding another 700,000 or so people to those rolls every month.

1/ It turns out that Donald Trump was right: the election was rigged. He would know, of course, because he and Lewis DeJoy were the ones who rigged it.
2/ Historically “conservative“ (e.g. “white racist”) efforts to rig the vote were almost entirely focused on preventing people of color from voting. For a century, this involved literacy tests, guessing the number of jellybeans in a jar, and other low-tech, blatant strategies.
3/ In the 1960s, William Rehnquist and friends launched “Operation Eagle Eye“ in the Southwest where they would send “poll watchers“ to threaten and intimidate Native American, Hispanic and Black voters.

Is Trump about to commit his ultimate treason? /1
The Founders greatest fear, when it came to the president, was that a man would be installed in the office who was in debt to, or loyal to a foreign government. It’s why they put the Foreign Emoluments ban in the Constitution. /2
Jared Kushner visited the Saudi‘s and the UAE just before they blockaded Qatar; within a few months an investment fund heavily financed by Qatar gave Kushner the billion dollars he needed to save his failing real estate empire, and the blockade ended. amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/… /3

How can America prevent Republicans from stealing the 2024 election and installing a fascist? /1
Republican threats to have individual states choose electors for Donald Trump even though their citizens voted for Joe Biden are not about this election; they’re about putting a fascist in the White House in 2024. /2
And the reason Republican elected officials across the country are letting this drag out, even though they know Trump has no chance because Biden‘s margin of victory is so large, is to see how far they can push this in anticipation of 2024. This is a test. /3

Two things could be going on with Trump’s refusal to acknowledge the election. /1
Either he’s dragging this out so he can raise money to line his own pockets, or he’s coordinating with the billionaire donors who largely own a number of Republican state legislatures to steal the election. Or both. /2
The Constitution says that individual states’ legislators can award their electoral votes to whomever they choose; it just takes an act of the state’s legislature, in most states signed by the governor. It’s never happened, but it is constitutional. /3
