.@nytimes is reporting Trump has contacted Michigan state lawmakers to try to change the Electoral College process.

There has been no similar contact to the office of Wisconsin's @SenFitzgerald, according to Fitzgerald's chief of staff.

Fitzgerald will soon be leaving the Wisconsin state Senate because he was just elected to Congress. He is a big backer of Trump.
.@SpeakerVos has not been contacted by Trump, according to Vos' office.
A spokesman for the incoming Wisconsin Senate majority leader, @SenatorDevin, hasn't said so far whether Trump contacted him.

Preparations are under way for Dane County’s recount at the Monona Terrace. Image
“The first day is slow. The first day is not ideal, and then it picks up pace.” — @samcdonell, the Dane County clerk and chair of the county’s Board of Canvassers.
Today they are starting to count the number of ballots and absentee envelopes. They won’t start tallying votes until tomorrow. They’ll use high-speed tabulating machines to do that.

Below is one theory on why Trump is pursuing his recount in Wisconsin.
Trump has been fundraising for weeks off of a recount.
But: He also paid $3 million to cover the cost of the recount this week.

He could have kept that money and abandoned the recount if he wanted.

Republicans have been complaining about machines made by Dominion Voting Systems, but those machines are not used in the counties that Trump selected for recounts in Wisconsin.

Dane and Milwaukee counties use machines by Elections Systems & Software.
In fact, Trump himself tonight criticized Dominion on Twitter... but he didn't ask for a recount in the Wisconsin counties that use those machines.

Trump's claim about Dominion has been flagged by Twitter as disputed.

Today @GovEvers and @SpeakerVos both said they want to work on COVID-19 legislation, but it's clear they aren't near a deal yet.

Even if they reach an agreement -- and that's a big if -- they could have major trouble in the state Senate.
The incoming Senate president, @SenatorKapenga, told me he didn’t see any need for the Legislature to act.

“At this point, I haven’t seen anything that I’m real excited about,” he said.
He said he didn’t support Vos’ call for increasing contact tracing.

“I’m not on the same page,” Kapenga said. “I don’t think I would add funding to that.”

That's true even if federal money is used, he said.

"It's still taxpayer money."

.@SenRonJohnson answers reporters’ questions ahead of Trump’s rally in Janesville.
Johnson, who recently came out of quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, said he generally doesn't wear a mask when he is outdoors. He said the stiff wind would help prevent infections during Trump's rally.
"I don't think this is particularly dangerous at all," Johnson said.

In a @wispolitics forum, @SenatorRoth says Republicans may hold a lame-duck session to pass a prescription benefit management bill as well as other unspecified legislation.

He doesn't say whether they would vote down the mask requirement, as @Vanwanggaard says they will.
@wispolitics @SenatorRoth @Vanwanggaard Roth says he wants to meet because a March session day was canceled because of COVID-19.

"It would be nice to get those over the finish line," he says of legislation that would have been taken up that day.

He says a decision won't be made until after the Nov. 3 election.
Roth says he's upbeat on gaining seats this fall.

@SenBewley says there is no way Republicans will gain the three seats they would need to win a veto-proof majority.
