SIGNIFICANCE OF A NAME
LUKE 11:1-4
And it happened as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught His disciples. And He said to them,
When you pray, say: Our Father, who is in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, as in Heaven, so also on the earth. Give us day by day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

MESSAGE
Proverbs 18:10 describes the name of the Lord as a strong tower that assures of righteous of safety. Joel 2:32 also records that a time will come when a call on the name of the Lord will guarantee salvation. A name in essence is an identity that defines our personality.

This is the reason a good name is better to be desired than riches. What identity is attributed to your name? When people mention your name, what comes to mind? There are some names that are very much associated with evil, likewise some with good works.
God’s name is His identity, hence it must be honored. We have many who swear falsely and speak lies in the name of God; in trying to please/deceive people, they offend God. If you belong to this category,
it is better you seek forgiveness and make a commitment not to do so anymore. You also observe that many in starting their prayers call the name of God in a disrespectful manner; a name that we are only given to call by grace.
Finally, as a Christian, you are being called by the name of God, never let the world blaspheme Him through you.
