My super talented circle of Vedam friends, are like a large family by now. Each of them here are studying Vedam full time. Some are Ghanapaatis, some Jata and Kramaapatis. Some are also studying Shastra and Jyotishya. Revisiting Yakshagana Prasangas is a collective timepass! 😀🙏
The Prasanga here is from Lava-Kusha Samvaada. If you can understand Kannada, you will enjoy it better.

Lava and Kusha are in the forest. Have caught the horse that was left. Two soldiers come in search of them. And a conversation begins. 😀🙏
The soldiers ask the two kids their Pravara and Gotra. A beautiful dialogue between Lava and Kusha and these two soldiers. They mention they don't know all those things. They only know their mother who everyone in the Valmiki Ashram address "Amma". They don't even know her name.
Lava and Kusha tell the soldiers that Valmiki Maharishi has been telling them the story of the Ramayanam. They narrate a Sankshipta Ramayanam in a Padya form. 😀
It went on and on till we decided to have a Mangalam for a Badam milk and Balekayi Bajji break! 🤩 Not before doing a small impromptu Sanmaana for the artiste. 😂

And that's how we normally have fun!

Now am craving to watch a good full-length Yakshagana performance! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤓
Watched a beautiful vintage video of a young Keremane Shambhu Hegde avaru performing his favourite role of Dhuryodhana. And slept late. Woke up only at 6 am! 🤭🤭🤭

Good Yakshagana is addictive! 🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️

Vijayadashami is a day we consider extremely auspicious for Vidyaarambam. A friend sent me this wonderful video of Vidyarthis in a Patashala in Hyderabad reciting Taittreya Upanishad.

May the power of these ancient chants heal the world! 😊🙏

I am putting out a picture thread on some of the greatest living scholars and Maha Vidwans of the Telugu regions. Each of them have performed countless Somayagams, Poundarika Yagams and so on. Just having their Darshanam is enough! What better day than an auspicious Ekadasi! 😊🙏
Sri Khambhampati Nageshwara Avadhani Garu of Vijayawada. A great scholar of Krishna Yajurveda who accepted Sanyasashrama to become the head of Sri Sringeri Sivaganga Peetham, an Upapeetham of Sringeri in Karnataka.

Now some confused liberal VMK is asking me if Chanakya was a real character or not. I asked him if he read the Arthashastra? Fellow says no, can't read Sanskrit so depended on some translation.

He is more interested to prove Chanakya's identity.🤦‍♂️

VMK = VedhavaMundaKoduku*
It was at the Oriental Research Institute in Mysore that the great scholar Mahamahopadhyay Rudrapatna Shyamashastry (1868 - 1944) discovered the only surviving palm leaf manuscript of Kautilya's 'Arthashastra', one of the greatest literary discoveries of the century! 🙏
Read 'An Imperial History of India' by Sri KP Jayaswal. An important document that puts the history of Bharat in good perspective.

I don't know where these half-baked liberals come from! 🤦‍♂️

Book available for download here. 🙏…

Today is being celebrated as the birth anniversary of the great Srimad Appayya Diksita (1520-1593). A polymath, scholar, poet, Upaasaka, whose contribution to Shaiva Siddhantam and Sanskrit literature is unparalleled! ☺️🙏
Diksita's ancestors were Nitya Agnihotris who hailed from the Bharadwaja Gotram and were descendants of Rishi Angirasa. They were Telugu Vaidikis who migrated after the fall of Vijayanagara and settled in the Tamil country. Diksita's father Rangarajadhvari was an Aadhvaryu. ☺️🙏
The details of Appayya Diksita's personal life are very few and far. But we know some things from the writings of his nephews, and disciples, Suryanarayana Diksita and Samarapungava Diksita who travelled extensively and eventually settled in Kashi. ☺️🙏

Tonight is auspicious #SharadPurnima. Adi Shankara in Soundarya Lahari describes Devi's face to the autumn moon.☺

This signifies the end of the monsoon season and the intermediate period before winters begin.

Traditionally they would cook a Payasam in a clay pot under the moonlight tonight and consume it tomorrow morning. ☺️🙏
The taste of cooking anything in a clay pot on a firewood stove is indescribable! 😍😍😍

It takes a few hours to slow- cook a Payasam. I feel like having this, with all the delicious smokey flavour, for days together! 🤭 Image

Getting news of singer @shobha_raju being made the Asthana Vidwan of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam. For the past three decades she has been tirelessly working to propegate the compositions of poet composer Tallapaka Annamacharya.

The TTD, time and again honours artistes with the title of 'Asthana Vidwan' for their services towards spreading awareness about the music of Tallapaka Annamacharya. In the past they have given the same title to Sri Rallapalli Ananthakrishna Sarma, Veturi Prabhakara Sastry,
Dr Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, M S Subbulakshmi, Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, Garimella Balakrishna Prasad and many others. Most of these were classical musicians. @shobha_raju is the first non-classical musician in a long time. She trained under numerous Gurus.
