The unbiased existance of spirits does not need to be proven in order to manifest the effectiveness of magic. You might not know that the reality of telepathy or mental communication has been proven, albeit unofficially by many agencies throughout the world. Our brain operates as
a receiver, just like a radio tuned to the brain waves broadcast of others on the same frequency. Therefore telepathy is more common amongst close friends and relatives. The practitioner is someone who is able to convert his receiver into a transmitter. At first, his influence is
limited to those attuned to the same or similar frequency, but once he learns how to change frequency, he will able to impose his will upon those receiving different brain waves broadcasts. And the more powerful his transmitter becomes the more his spectrum of influence will grow
The quickest and more direct way to the brain is through the optic nerve. Hence the evil eye and the saying, the eyes are the window to the soul. During the hypothetical Middle Ages, witch hunters used to remove the eyes of magic practitioners to avoid being cursed with a look.
