As Mr. Luan back peddles furiously from his diabolical statements made on Friday that seem very consistent with official Alberta UCP policy, I found Austrian economics opinions that spell out the UCP’s current stance on COVid mitigation (i.e. Procrastinating until crisis).
Here is a 2012 recorded response of the question: “Does government regulation crowd out private responsibility?”

Kenney & many UCP ministers have repeatedly identified personal responsibility.

The far right adamantly supports liberty, not regulation.

mises.org/library/does-g…
Mises Institute is where UCP members and supporters go to find & validate their ideology.

This speech is laden with theocratic overtones & the belief that it’s better to let people decide themselves, where they can make a personal risk assessment. Therefore no mandates needed.
The problem with this is that not everyone will make good public health choices. Which is why Public Health legislation includes the use of mandatory measures. Some, regardless of shaming, norms and reminders, will refuse to make choices to protect other’s lives.
This is the situation we Albertans currently find ourselves in. A govt rigid ideology that bans mandating public health measures to protect the public’s health. Leave it as a personal responsibility. Kenney will not allow mandates. He will NOT compromise his ideology.
Of course nothing is mentioned about the freedom and liberty removed from Albertans by those that continue to flout COVID guidelines and suggestions “recommended” by the government. Apparently everyone else’s liberty is irrelevant to paleolibertarians and ideologues within UCP.
The speaker on the recording notes govts need to consider whether they should mandate any behaviour through an economic, philosophical & theological lens.

Huh?!

Philosophy is just another way of stating ideology, not science, is the preference for policy development.
Economics is important, but not without considering the people who make up the economy and benefit from it. The assumption is that production is required to maintain health. Huh? Forget the disease; you need the dignity of a job to maintain your mental & physical health.
Theology?

There is a growing global Dominionist political movement. Christian Dominionists are libertarian & don’t believe in mandatory public health measures? “Let the poor and unproductive people die to save the economy?” We’ve seen GOP amplifying that narrative. It’s sick!
Problem is, that’s exactly what Dominionists believe & are demanding, & UCP is Dominionist.

This existence is temporary. You’ll get your rewards in heaven. So a sacrifice of your life to preserve free market economic dominion is an honour for the aged.

independent.co.uk/news/world/ame…
Dominionism is a death cult. Demanding others die a horrible death or suffer lifelong complications to preserve the economy? That’s what cults require. Total submission to the ideology and self sacrifice to protect the leaders. It’s deranged and preposterous.
The individual speaking in the audio recording recently wrote an opinion about pandemic strategy. He recommends no strategy.

These are some of the ideologues & radicalized extremists that Kenney & UCP are accessing to inform ideology and Alberta policy. mises.org/wire/pandemics…
If you read the article it reveals how the far right is gaslighting the public. They refer to the virus as a hoax or a flu bug. Not a deadly pandemic. If you hear it often enough, think it diligently, it becomes reality. The pandemic disappears. Liberty is preserved. Magically.
Problem is, just like gravity, belief in the pandemic’s catastrophic impact is not required to experience its effects.

These beliefs are based on consequentialist ethics.

Very short video explanation of consequentialism: 2 min.
Another Mises Institute article. This one is aimed at the “working class” libertarian. But it ultimately serves the interests of business owners & corporations. They need workers.

It’s cult rhetoric. These beliefs are not based in reality or facts.

mises.org/power-market/c…
Here’s another article rationalizing refusal to provide aid to the public. It’s not advisable to give people free money. The economy functions when workers are free to sell their labour in exchange for wages. Then people buy goods. COVid is just a hoax. mises.org/wire/covid-sti…
Apparently millions of Americans aren’t starving and fending off homelessness because of the pandemic. It’s because they can’t work and the federal government gave them free money. A disincentive. 🤦🏻‍♀️

None of this makes sense to a critical thinker. It’s gibberish.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) provides corporation approved legislative templates. Just fill in the blanks and instant legislation. ALEC is a bill mill. Or in this case, a list of legislation to “relax” or repeal.

thehill.com/opinion/financ…
ALEC has a long COVID legislative wish list. One that Kenney & UCP seem to have been implementing since being elected.

When emergency is declared, UCP can repeal, amend or create whatever legislation they want. Regardless whether it’s related to COVid.

alec.org/article/policy…
Check out the list of demands. You’ll recognize quite a few. Red tape, COVid indemnity for the government and corporations, relaxing worker protections, lots of these legislative items are already incorporated into Alberta’s legal code.
Needless to say, Mr. Luan can attempt to distance himself from the decision making regarding the Alberta COVid strategy. But he cannot erase the last 10 months of strict adherence to Mises and ALEC inspired COVID dogma, ideology and far right policy choices made by UCP.

Boy am I getting tired of witnessing the NDP get trampled in QP daily.

Why is it the left never knows how to control the conversation and doesn’t even recognize when the right are controlling the narrative by playing victim?

Shandro yesterday, Nixon today.
Nixon is playing victim by just repeating “we will not make this political” over and over. Except they have made it political. By insisting lives AND livelihoods be protected.

When your house is burning down, you don’t run and get the garden hose, you save the baby & grandma.
That’s the ethical and moral choice. You can rebuild your house. You can not replace a child or grandma. Lives are the priority, not property.

If this were a natural disaster like a flood. You don’t abandon people grasping onto trees to save the local restaurant.

It’s not over.

Trump is desperate to hold on to power. The US Senate is as well. So many of them are implicated in corrupt activities and cover ups for Trump.

Will Republicans cave and do what Trump/Stone are demanding?
Only the Republicans know that answer. But it’s a likely possibility.

Criminals backed into a corner will do whatever it takes to escape justice.

That sigh of relief you felt when Biden finally got the approval to transfer power is fleeting and illusory.
To avoid burnout, stop celebrating and relaxing every time Biden wins a battle. It’s the war that needs to be won, not any individual battle. Every small victory is great. It’s one step closer to Biden in the White House and stability.

But we still stand on shaky ground.

What do we call a supposed leader that hides from controversy that he caused himself?
A weakling & a coward!
Cowardly Kenney.

Bullies are predictable. When you stand up to a bully, they run and hide.

Kenney will try to reestablish his dominance. He will try to impose targeted strategies. But he will not impose a lockdown, yet.

He will eventually.

Albertans direly need help getting mainstream media attention to this story.

Not only did Minister Luan reveal the official plan is to do NOTHING to address COVid, so did Minister Shandro at another Grande Prairie AGM this weekend.
Published by South Peace News, reporter Susan Thompson records Minister Shandro pandering to what appears to be Q’Anon conspiracy theories. Though she didn’t label it as such.

Shandro revealed the Alberta COVid strategy is being guided by Dr. Hodkinson. A discredited physician. ImageImageImage
The Canadian College of Physicians and Surgeons recently released a public statement distancing the organization from Dr. Hodkinson’s opinion about COVid danger and the use of masks.

Now it seems the doctor has allegedly recommended testing be stopped, unless symptomatic.

The diabolical plan revealed by MLA Luan is in character with paleolibertarian ideology.

That is who is at the helm in Alberta.

Radical extremist far right religious zealots who are dedicated to their adherence to ideological policy choices.
In a purely cost benefit analysis, it’s cheaper to allow the population to live with COVid than it is to mitigate the transmission of the disease.

When loss is expected, the least expensive loss is preferred.
How much has been spent on COVid strategies in Alberta compared to other Canadian provinces?

On a balance sheet, Alberta has “wasted” less capital than other provinces. And preserved the viability of more corporations.

@erinotoole Nice try.

Premiers of Provinces have the responsibility and purview for the majority of healthcare. Premiers & fed opposition blocked national coordination. Premiers refused to spend the Fed aid and implemented a herd immunity strategy. Canada is descending into chaos.
@erinotoole CPC and NDP blocked a federal emergency from being invoked.

This result is all on premiers. Hey aren’t most of them far right conservative?

Then cons and NDP started a fake scandal to distract public from attending to COVid opening safety. Great move.
@erinotoole Canadians have no one to blame for the devastation of COVid and economic situation but Scheer, Legault, Ford, Pallister, Moe & especially, Kenney. As well, populist sycophant Singh and Horgan.

And you.

Don’t project your party’s ineptitude and malevolence.
