This sounds like a preferential sexual coersion and extortion crime. Get the kid to share a compromising image through teach or treat strategies then pivot to the threat. The multiplier effects mean on offender can have many 10's or hundreds of victims.

The story *should* have been about the horrific nature of the crime, the MO, what you can do to avoid it. Instead it is used by @NCA as an example of how these offenders go dark on law enforcement once end to end encryption goes live on @Facebook messenger

I know the @NCA_UK will be accused by privacy activists of using emotive examples to campagn against encryption but they are right. Surely the kids abused by this criminal deserve to be heard? Surely privacy activists cannot ignore this inconvienient truth?

This man was discovered by @Facebook scanning their system. This generated a cybertip to @MissingKids who processed it through to @NCA_UK who arrested the perp and put him before the courts.

This process is tried and trusted and it works. Unfortunately an ungoing debate at the @EUParl_EN will soon kill this process. Efforts are ungoing to avoid this.
