🚗 Travel restrictions will be lifted across the UK. Those travelling to/from Northern Ireland will be permitted to travel for an additional day either side.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Up to three households will be able to form a “Christmas bubble” - they must be fixed and cannot change.
🧒 Children under 18 whose parents live apart can be a part of both parents’ bubbles, if they chose to form different groupings.

🧑‍🎓 In England, students who have returned home for the holidays are treated a part of their family household.
🍻 Members will not be able to get together in pubs or restaurants, and restrictions on hospitality will be maintained depending on which tier people are living under.

Members of a bubble can meet at home, in places of worship and in outdoor public places.
😷 Bubble members will not be required to follow social distancing while they are together – although they are advised to exercise caution if there are vulnerable people involved.

People are advised to reduce unnecessary contact in the two weeks before they join a bubble.
Many are deciding not to bubble with other households, due to the risk of the virus.

@DrSarahJarvis won't be seeing her 95-year-old father despite families being allowed - because she wants to keep him safe.

Today marks six months since the murder of George Floyd.

With the resurgence of the #BlackLivesMatter movement this summer, racial equality has been a topic never far from the headlines in 2020.

But how much of a problem is racism in the UK?

#5NewsTonight investigates. 👇
We teamed up with race equality charity @raceontheagenda (ROTA) to construct a questionnaire that would investigate the experience of racism in Britain today.

More than 500 people from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic backgrounds were surveyed over a four-week period.

[THREAD] "2020 is a year which cannot be neatly accommodated in one single ‘word of the year’.”

Oxford Dictionaries has expanded its usual Word of the Year due to an “unprecedented” 2020, with furlough, moonshot and Covid-19 among new terms on the list. 📖

@OxLanguages | #5News
Superspreader and lockdown are other coronavirus-related words on the list.

Black Lives Matter, cancel culture and bushfire have also been added to the 'Words of an Unprecedented Year' report, relating to societal and environmental issues during the past 12 months.
The report says the usage of the word pandemic increased by 57,000% last year, while lexicographers found use of the word “coronavirus” passed one of the most frequently used nouns, time, in April.
