I'm listening to our first "Patreon exclusive" episode of @Political_Beats, for patrons only, and it's absolutely HILARIOUS: "When Jeffrey Met Scot" i.e. the first time we ever spoke, our proof-of-concept demo tape. patreon.com/politicalbeats
This dates back to BEFORE the show started, still in its formative stages. You can hear us talking about the show, what length it should be (I say "more than 30 minutes but less than 45," lolololol), etc. But even funnier is how much all our music chat ended up being proven out.
We mention so many artists, express opinions about them, and it's a relief to find out I've been consistent over three & a half year. Also, I say "I know this guy @MattWelch, and he could cover at least 16 different acts for us"...
The part where we discuss a potential "worst lyricists" episode (very much a possibility for an upcoming Patreon-only show) is a laugh riot. I spend a solid five minutes bitching about Jon Anderson of Yes.

gee i'm not the most imaginative fellow in the world but a third possible choice comes immediately to mind
If you believe in isolation/lockdowns, valid (basically where I am). If you think "screw it, family first" and hold a Thxgiving, I don't agree but at least I emotionally understand. I can't forgive all these prominent Ds demanding the former but then personally doing the latter.
I can't tell you how much my parents would have loved to fly out to Chicago and spend Thanksgiving with us and the Bopper. But they're responsible and listen to the authorities. The authorities themselves, however, feel privileged to "follow their heart," b/c they're 'special.'

Remote learning isn't learning. Remote therapy isn't therapy. Remote meetings aren't meetings (this one, however, is a plus).
What I know is that my little Bopper's therapy sessions have gone from helpful to disastrously useless since they went from in-person to 'remote'. There's only so much (not a lot) that can be done for a small toddler in physical therapy via a Zoom call.

It makes me sad to say this given how much I love his music, but Neil Young hasn't put out a genuinely good album in the past twenty years, despite being ridiculously prolific.
It's just one piece of gormless bilge after another. Okay, maybe PRAIRIE WIND is sort of okay, but it ain't no masterpiece. I despair of ever doing a Neil episode of @Political_Beats because I have no idea how to cover these last 20 years save to say "well, it's unfortunate."
But I can defend some of that stuff! TRANS is a totally left-field album but it's actually *really really good.* "Transformer Man" is one of his five finest songs. The A TREASURE archival release is titanic. THIS NOTE'S FOR YOU is a lot of fun.

Remember that this is a QAnon supporter. He doesn't even hide it. Then assess his sanity. Set aside the past; the past is dust. He's into QAnon. That's all you need to know.
The most insulting thing to people who think independently and have working brains is the "but muh massive vote fraud" folks saying "Powell and Wood have TRACK RECORDS! You can't question their authority."

The hell I can't. I know up from down, and I know this field.
This is another common arg among QAnon/Powell/Wood supporters and it's risible b/c it always comes from people who have absolutely no idea how litigation works and think it's like Perry Mason or hack TV. You can't just offer "surprise" evidence in court!

Ahoy! @Political_Beats returns with its celebration of Living Colour w/guest @stevesingiser of @DKElections. They are, in the words of @willcollier, "what the '90s SHOULD HAVE sounded like." Big thanks to @vurnt22 and the guys for an incredible career. nationalreview.com/podcasts/polit…
Living Colour is a band that was pretty big as is (the debut sold 2 million!) but should have been even bigger than that. The albums hold up as major artistic statements. @vurnt22 is one of my favorite guitarists, but there were no passengers in this band. A lost classic group.
One of the things that I, @ScotBertram, and @stevesingiser note about Living Colour is how their lyrics (not just by @vurnt22, but also on songs by Glover, Calhoun, and Skillings) have not only NOT dated...they somehow sound more relevant then ever. Remarkable trick.

the older I get, the longer I live, the more I come to believe that the Vikings were just total assholes.
these are the sorts of musings that come to one's head when reading a dry academic tome about the history of the Vikings on a Saturday morning & even the studiously non-inflammatory tone can't disguise that it's 99% raping, looting, killing, burning, & destroying priceless relics
seriously, these guys were jerks and it's high time someone had the courage to stand up and call them out on it.
