I spent the last week doing a deep dive into 'The Great Reset' after @PierrePoilievre tweeted #StopTheGreatReset. The idea started at the WEF -- but in the months since, some conspiratorially-minded circles have (baselessly) decided the policy proposal is a nefarious, evil plot.
The conspiracy did grow from a grain of truth. The WEF’s “Great Reset” does seek to reimagine society in a way that tackles major issues like climate change and global poverty — a plan endorsed by world leaders and royalty, individuals who could be described as “elites.”
But it loses its grip on reality when it weaves in accusations of non-existent plans to impose socialism, allegations of nefarious plots to take away individual rights to benefit a wealthy elite, and baseless theories that the COVID pandemic was planned to achieve those ends.
This story digs into the conspiracy theory's origins, how @JustinTrudeau briefly held a starring role in the baseless theory, and how experts say that politicians using the same language can inadvertently add fuel to the fire.

"He is in a pretty firm frame of mind about this so I am a bit worried," @Clerk_GC said.

"Bit worried about what?" @Puglaas asked.

"Well, it is not a good idea for the Prime Minister and his Attorney General to be at loggerheads," @Clerk_GC said.

Trudeau is just starting his apology for the St. Louis being turned away by Canada. There are survivors sitting in the gallery, watching closely.

“The Liberal government of Mackenzie King was unmoved by the plight of these refugees,” Trudeau said, adding that the government chose to “turn its back” on these victims of Hitler.
“When the Nazis conquered Belgium France and Holland, many of [the refugees] would be murdered,” he said of the refugees who were ultimately taken in by those countries.
